So I'm back again for some needed advice . You Have not let me down.
Im racing this Sunday at a bracket event. I have a medium built 360, 9:5 -1 comp, tuned 850 carb , comp cam timing at around 34 degrees runs a little lean under 2,000 rpm but awesome at W.O.T. my best time on pump gas was 13.50 at 102 mph. should I get the vp 104 and time my car at 36 or run it as is ? (I Just got some slicks to if I can run them(SportsmanRules). I was told if I run the 104 and don't advance my timing it will run slower. What do you guys think.
Thanks for all the help
Dale

With a 9.5:1 compression motor I would think 94 octane (pump gas) would be sufficient. You couldn't burn off all the fuel with 104 octane,. You see the flash point is much higher with 104 vs. 94.

My 440 dart with 100 LL aircraft fuel ran a best of 10.82.
Emptied the fuel cell and put in 92 Chevron pump gas,and ran a 10.75.
440 11-1 engine.

I built this car to run pump gas off the juice.

Wow guys thanks !!! I will run my union 76 91 octane and have fun. i almost bought the Sunoco 100 today ( wich the tech told me is really only 95 octane)
your car is a monster compared to mine. I was trying to get in the 12's
i run the slicks and see what happens
Thanks

id rather be safe and slower than chance it using cheap gas, id bump the timing to 38 and go with atleast 100 octane and go quicker

If you dont have the compression needed to run the higher octane dont run it. I dont think you will see any diffrence you will be mostly just wasting your money. Premium 91 -93 octane pump gas is plenty for a 9.5-1 engine. Just cause you bump up the octane doesnt mean you will run quicker. I think you may have a little to much carb for your engine also.

after the race I was thinking about going to a 650 or 750 eddy. I have a 850 now that was tuned at a shop and cost major cash to dial in. its waaaaay better now just a little ping at low rpm and load but at WOT its awesome. The speed shop here also want to put edelbrock rpm heads on the mottor stiffer springs and they promise 30 more hp to wheels to bring me 305hp and 320 trq. the price tag will be 2800.00. to much for me !

You should look into the RHS heads, there a very reasonable price and member IUO812(Brian)can help you with these heads and setup.Good Luck.

just wondering what you have done to your engin and what kind of distributare you have and yes go to edlebrock heads put in behive springs and are you running hydrolic or a solid style cam . robert
