considering picking up a set and looking for a little feed back.

anybody running them? likes/dislikes?

anybody got pics? bonus if they're on a 67~69 dart...

I thought I had read somewhere at one time that of all the sizes bigger than 15, that 17 was the size that had the smallest tire selection. That sticks out in my mind for some reason.

Only pic I could find of 17” magnum “style” wheels on a dart. And it isnt your year. Those are a VN500 custom from American racing.

the tire selection for my application in 15" is abysmal. basically it's cooper cobra (meh), BFG (nope) and general 400+ tread wear dog water rubber.

i have 15" steelies that i do want to run, but there's just nothing great in the size i need that meets my criteria (need handling characteristics).

going to 17" opens a whole world of possibilities, and cheaper prices.

There's also Galaxy Vitour R1 like I have on Vixen. I'm very pleased with them so far.

Wanna trade them steelies for some 14" slots?

I feel your pain. I'm not too worried about the Valiant beyond looks. I have SBP Centerlines with drag radials out back and pizza cutters on the front for track use, but it'll never see corners with any enthusiasm. My Challenger was a different story. I wanted more of a corner-burner and there's literally not a good 15" tire for the twisties in a musclecar size. As much as I dislike huge wheels (and outright hate "rubber band" tires), I ended up ordering custom-made Minilite replicas for the E-body in 17x8. The tires are sticky 255/50R-16s Nittos. Looks-wise, I think I ended up with a pretty good rim/sidewall ratio. There's enough cross-section and contact patch to have some fun without modifying anything for clearance.

Unfortunately, the company that made my wheels got bought by Coker Tire, who immediately shut them down. The Minilite replicas they sell now are much different (and worse, in my estimation).

counter point: slots look butt on anything that's not a 70's dirt bag street machine.

so, not only pass but HARD pass.
so what you're tellin me is...you got the right wheels, but your building the wrong car

yes.

sort of.

i have the wheels, but i don't have tire options that really work for what i want. thus, exploring 17" which will retain the look i'm going for while opening up better options of tires.

a delicate dance...

and i'll still probably wind up spending a smooth G on rims. woof.
