After the convertible was sold I found a two owner Dart 270. It was registred in 1965 and used as a taxi until 1970. Then it was sold and used occationly until the mid 80ies.

Black w/tan bench interior. 225 and a column shifted 904 tranny. That was pretty much it!

More pictures and stories to come.

'65. diplomat rear axle, 440 with home made fenderwell headers, 727 on column shift and front discs/calipers from a ford scorpio. lace along the top of the body and shaved rear handles. it was my daily then. it was much faster than the handling or brakes which was a blast.

I couldn' resist so I started with left rear door this morning. Paint looks sad but we'll see what we can accomplish. At least it's factory paint.

2 hours of polishing and rubbing and it looks way better! Even the moulding was is great shape. Next is the drivers door. There are some bondo there from way back. Will grind of and smoothen it out and repaint just that area.

I would think A taxi would have had plain black steel wheels with dog dishes, if they even come with them

EDIT; althogh the cragars do look nice on it!

You were right. Checked the factory spare wheel. It must have had full wheel cover just like this.
Re the rust in the left front fender I have some thoughts. Should I restore this fender to keep it stock or replace it with a rust free fender that needs black paint?

If you try to repair it, it will need paint anyway. Save yourself s lot of aggravation and just replace and paint

Last night I started on the interior. I don't know the reason why the former owner took the seats apart completely. But I have found three springs broken.

The seat covers are in mint condition after 58 years! All the insulation for the seats id rolled up like the one in the picture.

Started withe the back for the front seats. Need to find the hog rings!

If it weren’t so expensive to ship out of the US I could send a pound or 2 of hog rings; I have at least 4-5 pounds of them!
