1965 Dart GT conv.

-
Due to circumstances in the family the work on this one has slowed down.
But tonight I was able to take off the old custom made material on the rear seat and also take of the old seat cover on a rear seat from a 2 dr hardtop. That seat cover will be re constructed by a friend of mine here in town. It needs to be narrower due to the convertible panels.
Found out the red material was manufactured by DuPont. This matrial was produced 8 28, August 28, 1964 for a car that were assembled the 24th of October same year.

More progress is done!
The rear seat I bought from a friend of mine had a blueish cloth cover. I had a nice spare rear seat from a 2 dr hardtop in great condition. I friend of mine have a sewing shop hrre in town and she did a great work to perform it to a red convertible seat cover.

Today I installed the carpet. Turned out great and even installed the kick panels with insulation.

Rear seat done. Since it was for a 2 dr hardtop seat cover from start I think she did a great job. I also finished the carpet hold downs. As you see the result looks great. Next is to add the shifting cables, accelerator bracket and mount the carpet hold downs.

My buddy Johan will show up later this week so we can add the rear window and the top.

I love progress!

Dang! The third bow I mounted on my convertible top mecanism is wrong.

After trying to get the convertible top to fit there was always an issue. My third bow is 11 inch and the one on my Dart Charger convertible is 9 inch. After finding the old one I measured it and it wss 9 inch. My luck but this one needs some attention.

Thanks!

Today it was time to assemble the engine/tranny/front end with the body. The engine and tranny has been totally rebuilt to factory specs.
Today our wheel loader Volvo L30 gave me a hand.
Next will be the oil filter adapter, torsion bars and connecting the upper control arms.
Life is good!

Thr canles for the transmission is mounted as well. Next is to fabricate a new black plastic slide for the console. I also need to find the little plastic clip that holds the wiring to the body in the lower hole.

Life is good!

If those are 9” drum brakes you might as well make reservations for the high speed stops now :(

Gorgeous build !

Last night I was able with help from my son Jacob to mount the restored steering column and hook it up with new white foam gaskets.

looking good & getting close to being done! Like the use of the fork lift to fit the running gear! Any pics of where you attached the webbing to lift the body? I was going to make a frame attached to the bumper mounting points but the webbing idea is interesting!
