Officially on vacation for a few days. I’m spent. Lots of touch ups with glaze but the basic shape is done.

Time to get these detail parts epoxied so I can get them out of the garage. I have another pile for tomorrow

Round 2 of black epoxy. Tomorrow I can flip the heavy stuff over and do the back side and just like that suspension and under body parts are ready for assembly. Having these blasted when the body was done took what has typically taken weeks with my home setup down to 3 days. So worth it.

Round 3 and 95% of what needs to be painted black is epoxied. Love SPI epoxy. Leaves a perfect Matte finish when cured, hard as as rock and will never come off. These parts will never rust again. Parts on order so hopefully all this will be reassembled by next week before I loose anything.

As usual it take 2x what you think it should. It was worth it though.

Couple coats of black SPI epoxy to seal it up and make a chemical bond surface for the high build 2k. 3 heavy coats of high build and tomorrow will run around with glaze to touch up the areas where the high build couldn’t build enough and time for some fine blocking with 180.

A lot of tape, a lot of sandpaper a lot of time and a few blisters will get you nice crisp lines. I can’t believe how close this box is to being ready for the final 2 coats of epoxy that will get wet sanded with 400 ready for the base coat!!!!!!!! I ran out of gas today. I can’t sand anymore. Tomorrow glaze on a few low spots, finish sanding and a few more coats of high build on the box bottom and cab back and another blocking (they get faster to do the closer you are to done) and hopefully a shot of epoxy on the box side walls before noon so Monday a few coats of high build and blocking on the sides and it will be done….

Stick a fork in…. It and me. 2 coats of 2k tomorrow and a final 220 blocking and I’m calling the box done. Time to start back up on the exterior.

Working a deal for this '70 era intake system for the 225... way cool... will also see about getting the '70's vintage Appliance Wheel re-chromed for it too...

@Hyper_pak Might be able to give you some insight to that setup.
Thanks Demonracer.
You got that system from JR?

I had that intake years ago, mine came out of Australia.
I sold it to a street racer in N.Y. City of all places in the 80's.
Those are the 42 DCOE carbs if I remember correctly.

Give me a shout if you want any advice or a baseline tune.
You wanted unique and interesting, looks like a home run to me!

Must be rare if you know who owns it! Working a deal with him.

Today about 100 small fixes for various flaws and skimmed the tail panel. It was so easy to do compared to that box. Tomorrow skim the side to make the shadows straight and true then blast it with 2k and some fine sanding.

@Hyper_pak they are 45's but don't know what is in them for a venturi. Been watch a nice series about how to baseline and set them up. Looks like for the 225 on the street a 40mm is the right sized venturi... When I get them I will pull them down and see what emulsion tube and jets are in it. Also I would rather talk on the phone after I get them if you don't mind. PM me and I will give you my contact info. Thanks... JR says you are the man to help base line them!

Right side box done! The only thing remaining is the nose and that is not is bad shape at all. I just need to slide the rotisserie back so I can work on it. I wasn’t thinking the first time.

It did not look bad at the start but you can see the filler it took to get perfect. Notice the shadow of the box edge on the side.

As it's been said, " paint work is 90% prep work".

Personally I would say it is more like 98% if you take the amount of time you put in up until the day to start to spray base vs the time to spray the base and clear... that is typically only a day or two... compared to the last 6 months :)

Easy day. Shot the last coats of 2k in the box, ready for fine blocking and then the final 2 coats of epoxy. Shot 2k on the doghouse panels for blocking and again epoxy then black single stage paint. Finished up the filler work on the back of the doghouse and batter box where I had to weld up a hole that was punched in it. Ready for the same treatment as the other panels. Blocked out the LH side to see where we were after it has sat for a month. I thought it was a bit closer than it was but nothing a shot of epoxy and a morning of glaze can’t solve.
