Anybody ever use a 1966 D-Dart Holley Carburetor for the Drag Strip.

Holley #3778 - Model 4160 - 700 CFM

Manual Choke - Vacuum Secondary - Single-Inlet Fuel Feed

Primary Throttle........ 1 11/16" {1 5/16"" Venturi}
Secondary Throttle.... 1 11/16" {1 3/8" Venturi}

Primary Jets..............122-75 {.081"}
Power Valve..............125-65 {6.5}
Primary Pump Nozzle..{.025"}

These Holley Carburetors were 'specially produced' for the D-Dart, and were not found on
any other Engine application.

The #3778 was 're-calibrated' by the Dodge Factory Technicians.

Date Code Tags are early 1966 manufactured dates.

Never heard of it - but I'd expect it wasn't much more "calibrated" than a well tuned aftermarket type Holley. not unlike the carbs for the cross ram Hemis or certain GMs and Fords. Holley was a big part of all those programs. Sounds pretty cool tho.

Thanks for the response 'Moper'

The #4160 Series Holley's back then were Rated at 550, 585, 600 or 750
with the Vacuum Secondaries.

The D-Dart Carburetor was a 'special' limited production unit only.

A similar Holley, was #3367 {585 CFM} off of the 1966 Chevrolet 327/300 HP
Corvette engine.

Only real difference was that the 1966 Chevrolet 327/300 HP - Holley #3367 had
1 9/16" Throttle Bores and one size smaller Venturi's.

The D-Dart Holley #3778 had 1 11/16" Throttle Bores.

Rico,

Primary........................1 11/16" {1 5/15" Venturi}
Secondary....................1 11/16" {1 3/8" Venturi}

Primary Jets..................122-68 {.0685"}
Secondary Jets..............122-78 {.087"}

Power Valve...................125-85 {8.5}

The adapter plate that they used for the carb was nothing more then a piece of 1/2" aluminum that was drilled and then cut out on a band saw. Pretty crude. I have pictures of the carb, adapter and air cleaner on my computer at home. I'll post them when I get home next week. I may have posted them on an earlier thread on this site. The choke cable was nothing more then a hood release cable from a 66 Chrysler that had the "HOOD RELEASE" wording ground off and then chromed.

Alan,

Pretty crude components.

Not much Chrysler Money for the 1966 D-Dart Program.

Interesting info guys. The D Dart is a very fun study.

From the Dodge Catalog 'D-Dart Conversion Kit'

Carburetor Flange Adapter #2863052

I wonder if the adapter in the 'Conversion Kit' was different than the 'crude unit'
that came though with the '50' Factory Built cars in April 1966.
