1966 Factory V8 Valiant Signet Restoration For My Other Daughter

I learned to like the air flat board on the Dart and now I am loving it to get things to a 90% state in just a few hours... This was the worst side. The rest of the car will be gravy after this side is done.

Tried some 3M Platinum Plus today (thought that was what I was using but turns out it was just plain 3M Platinum). I think the plain Platinum sands easier but the Plus is easier to see against the white primer. A few more hours of roughing it in left for tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be warm so I will be shooting a lot of epoxy to get this thing sealed up top, bottom, inside and out.

Sure looking good Jim. Never thought i would see the day that old mopar being brought back to life again. I can hardly wait to see it finished. MAC

Stage one shaping done... tomorrow is at least 2 gallons of epoxy primer over this and the underbody, interior, in the trunk, under the hood..... Who forgot to put the cover on the Wife's Dart.... someone is in trouble... cleaned it up and went for a relaxing ride on a beautiful day..

Such an awesome color!

Sucked it up and did some shaping in the rear section... Then things got real with 2 gallons of SPI epoxy....

Looks good, that’s a lot of holes in the left front frame rail. Those all used? You look tired, have a beer, you earned it.

I asked the same question and they are all stock.. /6, 273, 3 speed, 4 speed, automatic..... I had one don't worry! Wait, LF frame? What photo are you looking at? Never mind I see. Yes they are all factory.

It's a good thing you took all those pictures when you were taking it apart, now you can review them so you can put it back together again. Looks great Jim. Rome wasn't built in a day & neither was the Valiant. looking forward to seeing the finished product.MAC

Jimmy like SlickSand.... A little glaze on a few low spots and man this got flat fast.... Barry said Icing or Dolphin glaze on 2k or poly is ok but not real filler. More sanding tomorrow and then not sure what to do my epoxy got hung up and won't be here till Monday... Maybe SlickSand the trunk and hood Sunday....

Needed a bit of Icing Glaze to make it perfect... 2 more coats of epoxy and man it is so close.... on this side... The shadows were just wrong on the upper body line so I needed to rework that area with glaze.. it took the better part of the day but it is so much better... If you are not thinking you are wasting stuff you are not changing paper enough!

Well "winter" is coming to Arizona tomorrow so I took the afternoon off and wrapped up what I was doing and got the Valiant in epoxy. I have all I need to paint it ordered from Chad Sperry but that won't be till spring I think. There is still a ton of little things to do with the worst being the roof needs Slicksand as it look like peg leg leprechauns where dancing on it after getting a shiny coat of SPI epoxy there. I need to get some guide coat and start blocking carefully to find the couple of spots that I know are there on the rest of it. The last 20% takes 80% of the time as they say...

Dave is getting busy with the 360. I need to pick up the pace! Needed to machine the freeze plugs to get a new sealing surface and someone put the wrong bolts in a few of the main caps.

Got lazy and went to a chile cookoff and show.. Unfortunately I was chatting with the guy with the Fury III so much I missed the chile! More blocking and fixing low spots. Used the SEM FiberFill on the corners where the lead use to be and gave it 3 coats of white SPI epoxy and 1 coat of grey as a guide coat for the blocking next weekend.
