Sigh... Yes, but it isn't to be. Mopars are rare around here in rural MT. I am completely happy with the 68 barracuda I could find! Being a notch it's almost a mini B. lol! In fact, I had all but given up on a Mopar until I stumbled across this one! Thank goodness I held out just long enough!

I've owned and worked on several GM's, but this one always intrigued me the most. Especially the similarity to the 340......

Bore ..... 4.057
Stroke .. 3.385

I think that one is considered the "Ram Rod 350" right? That's a bad mo' fo'......I've got a magazine article on a Cutlass with this engine and it does amazingly well in the Pure Stock Drags.

Yep, the Ram Rod & W31 engines. They were very stout, although, if I recall, the rotating assembly was heavier then the Mopar small block, the rods were not as strong, and the rocker assembly obviously left a lot to be desired :D. Still, they were pretty cool engines for small blocks back in the day.

I forgot to add, they used 2.00 int & 1.625 ext valves also....

We're they small blocks? I thought 455 heads would bolt on. Big motor, small displacement.

They were extremely similar, but the 330,350,403 had a shorter deck height then the 400,425,455 engines. The stock heads interchange, but as a example, the Eddy heads bolt on a "big block" but they interfere with the mechanical fuel pump on a "small block".....350" and such.

1968 Cutlass 350 'Ram Rod'

It was called the 'Junior Supercar'

Though it was the Code "W-31' Option, that designation was nowhere to be found on the car.

350/325 HP

This 'bare bone' Cutlass weighed in at #3271 lbs. and had a {10.06 Wt/Hp}.

The Cutlass 350 'Ram Rod' was #239 lbs. lighter when compared to the 'heavy'
Oldsmobile 4-4-2 which weighed in at #3510 lbs.

The 350 Ram Rod featured;
* Small Combustion Chamber Cylinder Heads, with Small Port Design

A few more to go for 1968.

How would the 68' 383 Road Runner do against the 68' Barracuda 340 'Formula-S'

If it was a 15-Round Bout, the Barracuda would win by a TKO in 5.

Remember too, that the 1968 Road Runner was a 'new' Body Style.

The 1968 Barracuda was a 'copy' of the 1967 car, with just a few minor
molding changes.

That's comparing apple to oranges.

The Road Runner was a model in the Belvedere body style. It is comparable to a Formual S model.

Apples to Apples would compare all Belvederes (incl Satelite, Road Runner, and GTX) to all Baracudas.

we can have some fun with!!!
Any road runners out there wanna play?

Does any one have numbers on the 383 Hemi Six Pack Ramcharger Superbees.

My great great great granpop bought one new. It was the wedge model with Hemi automatic and a 8 3/4 dana 90 *** end. With the X pipe!!

Fastest car on the east and west coast. beat all the Cudas ever made. It had a handle on it in the pics to hold it back on the start line so it wouldn't red light. Sort of what they do on the air craft carriers for take off.

He also bought the Brooklyn bridge from the guy who owned New York.
