1968 BO29 "Hemi" Barracuda ex "drag Hag" car in 1968 driven by Harold Dutton.. It was an original stick car 1 of 9 I am told.. This car is for sale as a rolling chassis with all parts except engine, trans and differential. It is a current SS/AH car that was driven by Tony Depillo at a few races including the US Nationals on several occasions. The car has approximately 50 Passes on it. Gary Jennings Race cars did the chassis work that features a pro stock 9 inch ford rear end with anti roll bar, Penske shocks on all 4 corners, Gary Jennings mechanical clutch linkage, Browell bellhousing for gforce and Gforce trans mount, RFE 8" dual disk clutch, Gary Jennings Mid plate with starter built in it, SS headers By Gary Jennings, Be Cool aluminum Radiator and twin elec fans, block plate with Mezerie chrome water pump, Mark williams 40 spline axles, brakes and aluminum drive shaft, MSD digital 7,If it will come off the car it is either chromed or Nitro plate coated, Weld racing wheels and Goodyear Tires. All moldings were replaced with new ones if we could find them.

If you price a new construction like this from and chassis builder you are looking at 60k plus and that doesn't include clutch, bellhousing, radiator, paint, wiring, and many more items. On original build we had more than 115k in this build plus historical value ..if you want to race or show a piece of history now's your chance.. Must sell making room for another car 100k or best offer.... will consider all trades..

I do not have the original paper work.. I spoke with Mr Dutton in 08 and he was getting that and I have not heard from him.. He stated that he still had it but would have to find it.. I have tried to reach him several times and the number I have is either the wrong one or isnt working. When we recieved the car it didnt have a fender tag.. It has the rear tag and the dash tag.. Its all there except for wheel tub area..

    A "non-rolling" rolling chassis....

No we installed a new rear valance and rear quarters after the chassis work was completed . The original one had a huge notch for wheelie bars I guess.. Someone else had cut it out.. We didn't cut it up it was already a race car when we got the car.

your gonna be lucky to get 50 for it. the SS market is just for s**t especially on a car thats been modded anything past hurst spec. you need to find and follow the car's past to the day it was sold.

According to the original owner they didn't have a title with it. He received the car as payment for racing that year. I don't know I have tried to reach him for a few years. And yes it's NOT AS PRODUCED FROM CHRYSLER. It has been a race car since 1968 and was updated accordingly through its life. It was raced its entire life. They even converted Otto a 69 to run pro stock that year also. It had the 69 deck lid when we received the car. I'm sure u could put it back stock if u wanted too but we wanted a race car so when we re worked the entire car we kept it a race car. Thanks for your concerns. By the way the chassis alone is over 65k plus 8k in shocks so we spent a little money on it .

It was not sold Harold Dutton received it for racing it in 1968 which he assisted on the hurst program and assembled most of the original cars including the S M car. It was raced in Ga from 71 to the 90's so that's all I know but DEll Jones confirmed the numbers and I have a few pics from 1968 etown race from Mr Dutton

i understand where your coming from, i build these cars daily... its just a sad fact that the market doesn't support these cars unless they are factory original. it seems the cars converted for prostock drop about 35K off the value of a generic car, the historical cars ( S&M Etc) go for more of course. also your car probably has the 69 decklid as at one time it was run as a 69 in 69 and probably 70 instead of buying a new car.

Yes. You are right it was ran as a pro stock car. I do understand what u are saying and we chose to build it this way since we didn't have engine/trans or factory rear.. It is a very nice car and the only mopar we have really ever wanted to own. Thanks for the info guys and have a great day.

Hello, don't mean to hijak the thread but, I am looking at one of these cars and the vin and the number in the trunk are not to far off of yours, is it possible that these cars came this way and your car has not been rebodied like someone thinks. Thanks Mike

You need to carefully go back and read the entire thread. What you are asking has clearly been explained.

You also need to remember that these were race cars. Replacement panels would be very common and racers would use what would fit, not what was exactly right.

68 cars the vin does not match the vin fender tag matches the body. thats why it so important to have the fender tag.

I just wanted to say that this car is VERY cool. It's sad that these historic cars aren't as valued as "factory original" ones. Good luck finding someone who appreciates it as much as you do.
