It's Blue, all the way.

Red is for Chevy's.

Go with the 1968 Indy Nationals {Top photo}.

But, "No Decals"

Other 'Dark Blue' BO29 originals
* Dave Wren
* Tom Smith
* Robert Nance
* Ray Christian
* Jim Wick
* Denny Byrd
* Jim Skarbuck

I voted for the blue. I think the red looks ok and was probably a little more professionally done. However, I don't think red looks as good on a "fish" as blue does. The work on the blue car doesn't look quite as professional, and I LIKE that. It looks a little bit more "raw", probably more authentic to what the average racer would have back then. Not as expensive a paint job / lettering job as say Sox & Martin would have had. I would go with a real nice PAINT FINISH, and then try to duplicate the lettering as authentic as possible. Go for the blue!

I agree with this assessment :glasses7:

I think Blue, because thats the way it was brought into the race scene, and it has a history of winning in that paint job.I bet that new paint will make that think look just awesome!

Dave,

If you paint that BO29 'Red',

I'll sneak in your Garage one Night, and scratch the paint up, and write
'Camaro SS' on the Fenders.

"You Go Blue"

I still like the red paint job better. The blue one looks a bit too amateur.
It would be hard for me to feel good about duplicating the lettering work on the
blue job because of this. But would feel worse about improving
it to make it look better. I feel the most important thing is to paint it
as accurate to the way it was as possible. Whichever color or year represented.
It didn't enter my mind as the red looking like a Chevy when I saw the
choices as it has for some. Not just for camero's as his old photos prove.
I found a couple other old redfish photos also. There were a few back then.
Likely more were done in blue though?

'Red'

Not for a 'solid' color on a Plymouth, especially a 1967 thru 1969 Barracuda.

If Dave paints that 'original' BO29 Red,

I'll drive by his house each night and put up a big banner that says.

"Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet"

davescuda any idea what shade the original blue was on the Cuda? Was it a custom blue or a factory Chrysler color?

I we know is it was a dark blue with metal fake. If
you look close at the picture with the green barracuda next to it you can see how much flake is in the pant. Looks silver in the sun.

Dave,

Back in 1968,

Many Mopar guys were having their cars painted with the Cadillac 'Fire Mist' mix.

We went with both the {Code 90} 'Spectre Blue Firemist' and also the
{Code 96} 'Monterey Green Firemist'.

The original paint color on Tom Myl's car looks like the 'Spectre Blue Firemist'

Both paints had a metallic-base {much like a 'light-version' of Metal-Flake}.

The 'Firemist' mix had a higher percentage of metallic particles in the mix.

Under the lights at night, the paint 'glistened'.

It was a beautiful Lacquer mix.

By the way ........ 'F' the Red.

Doug, just where in Canaan, Connecticut do you live ?

I can just get on Route 7 {from my home in {northwest} Wilton} and head North.

I figure to stop off at 'Lime Rock Auto' at Route 112 and Route 7, and then
rent a Canoe and paddle up the Housatonic River.

Then reach Canaan, and 'sneak in'.

That 'Red Fish' will never know what hit it.

"I'll de-scale that Fish"

Oh, by the way, I'll bring my Chevy banner.

You can see here when I blow it up. Defiantly metallic in the paint Tom also said it ha heavy flat in it.

Tom wants the car red. So I think that's why we are not getting a lot of blue pictures.
