Started to mock up some of the parts to see how everything fits with the Holley Sniper and Hyperspark distributor

Is that Corporate blue, or the turquoise blue? Which is correct tor a 69 340 car?

Body shop has the other QP off. Repairing various rusted areas. The worst part was at the bottom of the drivers side B pillar. When the outside rusty layer was cut off, it revealed a lot of rusted steel pieces inside the B Pillar and under the rocker panel. New pieces were fabricated and welded in and then new patches made for the outer layers. Looks just like new!!
Every little patch piece, the body guy makes by hand!!

I just read this whole thread. WoW! nice job so far, can't wait to see it finished.
Sorry you've had so many set backs with refurbishing of your parts though, that's unfortunate.

Thanks

Over the years I've come to expect refurbishment/restoration "challenges"!!! Frustrating at the time, but enjoyable in the end!

He is now working on the trunk lid. Usual rust along the lower lip. Found previous "repairs" consisting of fiberglass and bondo!!!! He is c=urrently fabricating the flat section under the lip. Next he will cut off the lip and fabricate a new piece.

Anyone have any photos or knowledge of the original color of the disk brakes splash shield? I believe they were painted black at factory, but not 100% sure
Thx
Jim

Disassembled the front suspension the last few days. Removed old LCA bushings and will be replaced with Moog K791 bushings. Changed disk brake hub bolts from LH to RH.

Bodyshop has the QP's screwed in place to check all alignments. The QP's had a slightly flattened profile maybe due to shipping. The bodyman made a template and then used a shrinker on the QP flange at the B pillar to pull it to the matching profile at the door.
He finished with the trunk repairs. They have started shooting paint colors to match the original R6 on the trunk lid. They are not happy with the match and will try some more shots.

Excellent job, having trustworthy craftsmen is worth a lot. Always a pleasure to follow your restoration thread.

Nice work!

I farmed because my skill level was to short! Mechanical/Electrical but not Structural body! Some of us know our limitations.

Sounds familiar! I grew up on a farm but got a Mech Engineering degree And spent my career in a nuclear plant so have a good understanding of mech and elect mechanisms. I’ve tackled some body structural repairs (cutting and fabricating) but not welding.
