Went to look at a very rare car tonight 15 minutes from my house. All original 1970 Challenger R/T S/E 426 HEMI, Auto console, 3.55 S/G, B5 Blue, consolette, leather faced front buckets, original rally's 46,000 miles. Production is at 60 cars with half 4-speeds & half automatic. The engine & trans were pulled in 99. The engine was torn down inspected & re-assembled utilizing all the original internals sans rod & main bearings. Each cylinder still showing the factory hatch marks prominatley. Looks like I might get to do the restoration on this very solid, very rare Challenger this winter. The 2nd owner was offered $125,000 over 25 years ago! Please excuse the cell phone photo's. Dave

wow! What a cool car.
I am jeaous. I really like B5 Blue Challenger R/T's....I was just reading a article about a B5 Blue R/T 383 in a older Mopar Magazine....how ironic.

B5 is really a pretty color when shined up....I really like that
B5 340 Duster floating around here on the site....can't remember the owners username.

did you buy it? Or doing the resto for the owner?

cool what lurks in the shadows so close to us sometimes!

Nice!

Looks can be deceiving......Its at that stage where just waxing and polishing would not do it justice. The white vinyl top has been removed with some rust through along the edge of the windshield. While an easy fix it still requires time. The original white stripes (vinyl) down the sides is cracked and faded. If you know about these particular challengers then you know how rare they are and would warrant nothing less than a quality restoration. Don't get me wrong...this a very solid car, a body man's dream. The interior is perfect! The carpet would not even need replacing. The car has the rally dash with the clock still ticking when the battery is hooked up. Did I say the car is rare? Dave

$125,000 and it needs restored! WOW I remember when restored Hemi E bodies were less than 10K ..... LOL Jim

It's not worth $125K in todays market. And it wasn't worth $125K in the open market 25 years ago. One person must have wanted it real bad or was fishing to see if he would sell it.

I like your car better! That,s just me.A friend of mine just re-done a 74 Chally with a 440/727 black on black. He also has a 71 Cuda ragtop 340 6pac 4 speed. He,s very picky about his cars and you can see it in his work.I always tease him about insurance increases on the ragtop.LOL!

That's a sweet car! Can you get a picture of the Headliner/center? Wow... that thing will be worth a pretty penny! Gotta love the Blue/White combo as well 8) Does it have the small back window? Hard to tell in the pics.

Here's my ol' '70 R/T SE 440 six pack original car, wish I never got rid of it! Wayyy too much fun, and I drove it like it was meant for, not to keep it perfect for a 1000 years.

I couldn't agree with you more! $125,000 25 years ago? Someone is full of --it. That is the trouble with these "collector" types. They seem to think none of us were around back then. 25 years ago I was driving THE Old Dominion B/FX 421 SD GTO on the street looking for Hemi cars to take a bet. I remember the first GM car to fetch over 10K at auction, and it was only two years prior. Before that only a couple Hemi E-bodies, and mostly '67 427 tri-power 'vettes were in the $10,000-$25,000 ball park...125K... Hahahaha. Possibly 427 AC Cobras were fetching that price, and my buddy bought one. He still owns it. My Brother-in-law is the restoration guy for one of the biggest Mopar collectors in the world. He has a couple of those Hemi Challengers. One I particularly like is a 20K mile, '71 Hemi Challenger in Winchester grey... nearly flawless. Has/had (everything is always for sale) a 17,000 Mile '71 Hemi 'cuda in Curious Yellow, a red Hemi Daytona, A few '70 Hemi 'cudas, half a dozen 440+6 '71 'cudas... He got into it in 1990. Shortly after that the price started to balloon.
Yea, it is a great car to collect dust like it has been these past years. I kinda feel sorry for those cars. They were non-existant on the street, and they really don't bring up any feelings in me one way or another. I saw a '70 Hemi Challenger R/T ragtop driving around the north St. Paul cruise last night. Didn't even stop to see if it was real.
