1973 Duster & Dart Sport 340 SUNROOF cars

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get together a data base/archive of all 1973 sunroof 340 A-body cars that still exist. Please send me the fender tag data or a good description of the car with it's options. If you have a fender tag of one that was parted out or a friend who has one please send that info also.

Later on when I have enough info I may have a website with general info and pics of various cars. No personal info will be used in any way only general info on the cars. Please post, PM

Just to update any interested people on how many 73 sunroof 340 Dusters and Dart Sports I have info on now here are the numbers:

(5) Duster 340/auto cars
(5) Duster 340-4spd cars

(9) Dart Sport 340/auto cars
(3) Dart Sport 340-4spd cars

How about a factory sun roof Plymouth Scamp? I pulled the sunroof from one a few weeks ago, I pulled the fender tag too, 225 car, crank in style roof. Let me know and I will get you the numbres, the car junk.

They use a picture of the interior shot of a sunroof Scamp in the 1973 Duster/Scamp brochure if I remember correctly.

Thanks for those links too as I'm curious about that early build/pilot Dart Sport car, I don't have that on my list.

It looks like the Dart guys broke out in 07. 11 Sunroof Dart 340 vs 3 Sunroof 340 Dusters over the last year?

Yes Thrashard and it seems strange but the Dart Sports were ususally more heavily optioned cars so maybe that's the reason???

But since there were more Dusters built I thought there would be more Dusters especially 340/auto cars.

I'll bring this post back about every 6 months to see if anymore are accounted for out in Mopar land.

I have a 73 Dart Sport with a factory sun roof. I know this is an elementary question, but what is the VIN number for a 340?

My buddy says the car has "340 suspension" so I am curious.

Your vin should start with LM29, and your 5th digit should be an "H" in your vin, if it's a 340 car.

my buddy and I just drove 13 hours to get a 73' Dart Sport 340 Auto with a factory moonroof, fold down seat, pw, ps, buckets, ect... Now heres the BIG question where do you get weather stripping for the moonroof????

ok i have a 73 duster 340 4spd sunroof car.... it will b a bit before i can post the fender tag info...fold down real seat and the whole deal ...it might be a v21 car if i remember correctly. manual steering power brakes no ac .fy1 lemon twist..give me some time....

It's optioned very much like mine as I have manual steering, no a/c and the V21 option on my tag. The V21 isn't on the present paint job though.

here's my 73 dart sport convertriple. It's a 340 auto car with power everything. California emission car with stripe delete. I paid $700.00 for this car in 2002 in this exact condition. What a steal!!!! I don't have the drivetrain though:cussing: I will get the fender tag when the foot of snow melts off of it!

I just found a 73 duster 340 4 spd with the sunroof. The car is also a stripe delete car. I will send you more information when I get a chance. I was researching to see if I can get a production number of these. I would think they would be rare. Any idea of how many were actually produced? Also, where can I find parts, weatherstipping etc?

Here are a few pics of my 340 Dart Sport with a sunroof, it is numbers matching FE5 with Light Parchment interior, 323 rear and a Automatic, I just need to put the strip on and it will be back to the way it left the dealership, except for the Crager SS wheels. I will post some more recently taken pics next time I am on land and not out working. Good to see so many 340 Dusters and Darts with the sunroof option.

I know you said you are looking for 1973 cars but I have two 1974 Dart Sport 360 cars with factory sunroofs. What would be interesting if you were to also include what kind of tops they have (canopy(half vinyl), full vinyl, none). I always thought you had to get canopy or full vinyl to get the sunroof but I have an original new car brochure that I got back in 1973 that shows a red Duster without vinyl. Now I see that blue one here. Interesting. Good luck with your search.

My dad owned a red 340 4 speed sunroof car. Its somewhere out there im guessing but I guess you cant register it since we dont have it and dont know where it is. Ill still share though. Bought it new when the 74's were coming out in Fairfax Virginia. I might do a vin search to try and find it. Last time he saw it, it was a race car but still in our state.
