Well getting ready to start my swap. I have a 1999 dodge magnum 5.9 360, assault air gap dual plane intake, 600cfm edelbrock carb, non lock up 904 trans, 8 3/4 a body axle and my v8 radiator. I bought Schomacker mounts to swap with and a wiring harness. Before I start the swap I was wondering what to do about the ac lines. My goal is to run the belt system on the 360 and intern run the modern ac pump. I am wanting to be able to hook it to my darts current ac system, any thoughts? Hoping to get the swap started this weekend and on the road shortly after. :burnout:

You could hit the wrecking yards. Look for the late 80's Diplomats, Furys and Imperials. You could also look at the 87-90 Dakotas. They mostly used the later style AC compressor with belts. You probably have to get the AC mounting brackets from them. I put a magnum 5.9 in my 74. It works great. Have fun.

If your 5.9 is complete with all the brackets and already has the original A/C compressor mounted, a good automotive A/C shop should be able to make the lines to connect the new compressor to your existing system. You'll want to change the expansion valve and dryer and run 134.

Where do you get this stuff from?

I have done the complete magnum swap into my 68 Dart. Fuel injection included. Added fuel pump and shutdown relays. Out of tank fuel pump.
Took it to an automotive A/C shop to change lines and bits. Battery to the trunk and put the ECM where the battery was. Swapped intakes to a Huges air gap unit. Fits and works very well.

Well progress is going slow and I do have quite a few pics just got to find the time to get them on. Remember this is a cheap junk yard style build so no judging I am just doing what I can afford. I have the engine compartment and engine/trans degreesed and painted. After I swap the intakes out and oil pan the motor will ready to drop in. Trans has new filter, torque converter, torque converter seal and tailshaft seal. What do you think would be a ok carb for this? I have both a edelbrock 650 and a holley 750 double pumper. I will eventually have a set of eq heads and cam but right now its all stock other than nock off air gap intake and whatever carb.

I was planning on dragging it in the street class every now and again but not always.

Sooo I'm deep deep into this magnum swap now and it is quite the pain in the ***. I put intake on and it wouldn't work with the serpentine belt system so I am going to a v belt system. I went to my buddies little mopar junk yard and pulled all brackets and accessories off of a 1983 Dodge Mirada. Well none and I mean none of the brackets 100% line up with holes on the block. I fabbed the alternator one and got the power steering bracket to mount everywhere but one hole. From what I read on magnumswap.com it should all pretty much mount over so I am as confused as I could be.

Yes, you can make it work. No- it's not a bolt on. We didn't have to mod the p/s bracket almost at all. I used my '77, or maybe '73 brackets, should be more like what yours came w/. Had to mod the alt big time. In the end we settled w/ a slight shave on the alt that could get done in minutes, a shade off the boss on the head, and that was how we got the '72-'87 alt to fit. Honestly sounds like you're having better luck. Yeah, the bolt holes aren't exactly all the same. Some reworking should be expected, the heads and timing cover have different physical dimensions.

I am not sure what to do, it is hitting damn near everywhere. Transmition dip stick tube won't let motor go far enough back to line up and manifolds are hitting both sides.

It was a slant 6 car. And if I was going to buy manifolds I'd just buy headers lol I always thought these guys swapping in magnums kept the manifolds for all their efi swaps.

Nope, they're better flowing manifolds so if they can get 'em to fit, better than the stock.

Ok better flowing then stock maybe but headers will flow even better.

So no room for those manifolds but looks to be tons of room for headers.
