240 Trick Flow 440

So now we are going from a 850cfm 4bbl to a ported dual plane 6bbl intake and the equivalent of a 960cfm 4bbl. Going to be fun to see what happens next week when I get the sprinkler system 6bbl fuel lines to stop leaking.

Interesting problem with your distributor. I haven't had to rework a reluctor for a long time!

What does the port match look like on your intake manifolds? On my 470 none of the intakes I had on hand were close in terms of port matching. Engine still made 685 hp with mis-matched ports but I'm looking for more once I get the intake cleaned up. Here is what my Mopar intake looked like. The Victor intake was even worse.

She's got enough bevel to keep from tearing up the bearings. The cam is the equivalent of a 232/236 @ .050 hydraulic, the smallest cam I have ever put in one of these things. The owner wants some vacuum and power.

I've got a bigger cam for the 383 we're building. No you don't want to know, it's a Chevy. And yes I even build Fords, the last was a 515 that made 785 HP on 91 octane.

Nothing wrong with that cam for a street car. The 512 low deck in my street car uses a 236@050 hyd roller cam. Nice smooth idle and wall to wall torque. It still makes enough power to put a fully loaded B body into the high 11's at the track so it isn't a slouch, but it runs smooth enough that I don't have spend time every weekend tightening the bolts back up.

All the ports on the aftermarket manifolds look like what you have with the Mopar manifold.

I haven't seen the new Trick Flow intake yet but I'm hoping that they did a quick CNC port match on it. I asked them if they were going to do a port match but I never got a response. Guess I'll find out when my new intake shows up.

The HotRod articular said they left some meat so people can do their own port matching. They said it like it was a good thing.

Still farting around with the 6-Pack but it has made 574 lb-ft @ 3,500 rpm and 589 horsepower @ 5,900 rpm.

No this pull wasn't made on 1/17/2016, but several days ago in the afternoon. Just last night I corrected the the date and time on the dyno computer (After I called SuperFlow about it they said, [my paraphrase] "Well, Silly, change it on your computer!") so everything should have the correct date from now on.

Ahhhh yes, more proof that the six pack doesn't make any power.

LMAO

A ported RPM will hold it's own with a good blended Victor to 6,000 rpm. We've tested that on a 496 stroker.

RPM...........Victor intake TQ/HP...........RPM intake TQ/HP

3000.......................472/269...................495/283.......+21 TQ

This is not making me feel good about the Victor we plan to drop on top of my new setup IQ....

I wonder if I should have had you do am RPM instead?

Where are you spending most of the time rpm wise?
Is the car heavy? More torque will be better than more HP.

With 4.56's, I would not worry. I don't think your idling around town for long periods from zero to 45 mph.

True. I can get into 3rd gear around town with the GV turned off.

But this is what I'm talking about.

6100.......................503/585...................480/558.......-23
6200....

I trap at 6200RPM now and make peak power at 5700ish. I know the new cam and heads will up that but I don't know if it will up it enough to make it worth losing power under 5600?

I think you worry too much. Did you see this?

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=343782

Your cam is bigger than this test engine, your intake manifold is column (3) and there is another intake column that I didn't post, your intake with a 2" 4-to-1 Super sucker spacer. And it goes something like this...........

Lift..............Ported RPM TQ/HP...........Your Victor w/ 2" spacer

3000...................541/309.................530/303
3200...................570/347.................554/337
3400...................614/398.................591/383
3600...................639/438.................612/419
3800...................638/462.................613/443
4000...................639/486.................615/468
4200...................628/502.................613/490
*4300.................616/504.................614/502*
4400...................611/512.................616/516
4600...................607/531.................617/540
4800...................607/554.................614/561
5000...................609/579.................623/593
5200...................614/608.................620/614
5400...................597/614.................614/631
5600...................590/629.................602/624
5800...................578/638.................584/645
5900...................570/640.................582/654
6000...................550/628.................555/645
6200...................536/631.................549/649

Add the spacer, launch over 4,200 rpm, and the RPM manifold has lost all its advantage on this cubic inch, cam and head combination. Yours will be something like that.

440 or 500 your engine will make peak power 6,000+ rpm and will hang on forever.

That looks a whole lot better.

Thank IQ52.

PS: yes, I worry to much.

Here is the 440 6-Pack with the 240cc Trick Flow heads, 590 hp/555 lb-ft, 3,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm at 300 rpm acceleration rate.
