i don't know any history on it . I'll ask the new owner when I see him . i can tell you this though ..... it had a peanut rear end in it. and the 340 has x heads and a big cam.Would it have come out of Texas ? I put it together out of a slant six and three on the tree car......scary me in the #2 car shirt.

Not to worry ! everything was lubed up properly.. all the upper drive train, cam lifters etc is from the previous engine that was blowing head gaskets. new engine oil system is primed already. already .Hope you globbed more cam lube on it than I see there. If not pull the intake while it's still easy. A wiped cam will mean takie it all back apart.
Edit: did you apply break in line to the cam at all? Looks dry. If it has no break in oil on thw lifters your really ought to pull the lifters and apply lube to every one.
Ohh I'm not worried at all. Good luck. Cam and lifters just looked bone dry in that image. When I install a cam there's no mistaking it. You'll see the lube gooping up everywhere on the can and lifters. Not to worry ! everything was lubed up properly.. all the upper drive train, cam lifters etc is from the previous engine that was blowing head gaskets. new engine oil system is primed already. already .
Personally, I use the thick cam break in paste (probably not right term). That looks a lot like the Comp Cam red break in lube, which I think tends to drop off the cam if the motor sits a while before you start it up. This is just my personal opinion.Ohh I'm not worried at all. Good luck. Cam and lifters just looked bone dry in that image. When I install a cam there's no mistaking it. just to let you all know this Isky cam and lifters are already broken in from previous engine .Personally, I use the thick cam break in paste (probably not right term). 273 is installed in 65 barracuda S.I tried every angle possible including taking the motor mounts off an thought that might help . NOT ! moved the trans up or down that did not work . I can't seem to fine the sweet spot where it will slide onto spine. I never had such a problem with this set up. I had the 273 engines out of this car several time before .
Congrats. First start is always fun.UPDATE :::::
FIRST START ! VIDEO . FIRED RIGHT OFF AS PLANNED !
