318 1/8 time improvement

-
You guys done comparing your peckers?

Anyways, thanks for the reply @318willrun I guess they made a street legal 1/16th of a mile drag strip. There is a tree there and you get time slip, no prep on track. I guess 330 ft is the whole race. I’m
going to find a used 650 or 750 double pumper and continue to tune. Then head out to that track.

Some things are out of our control. If that's the track you have, at least you have that! Another choice would be a Draggy app for your phone. But then you need a place where you feel safe/secure and not getting caught and such.

Just a little FYI ! years ago I broke the 340 in my 68 Dart race car , I bought an original 318 out of a 68 Charger we did a quick valve job , put in a stock type 340 cam and an old LD4B intake, Holley 750 , 1 5/8 headers and the car ran 13.90s with a 3.91 gear. I put on set of 360 heads and the car ran 13.20s . I took out the 10 inch converter and put in an 8 inch Turbo Action converter and the car ran 12.60s . ( I run a 904 )

8inch converter? 12.60? How did you not overheat your transmission? Surprised that 318 could pull that much stall.

I heard about draggy app honestly I live on a boulevard. Its like drag race city on fridays lol

Do you think a 650 or a 750 double pumper would be a better choice. I think just the switch over from a vacuum secondaries Holley 600cfm to a double pumper would help my 60ft.

Both can work great, but I like the 650 in this situation

Talked to a guy today, with a small valve stock head 318 Volare wagon.

11.70s. Quarter mile, not eighth.

Put your pecker back in your shorts. LOL

I bet it had a radical stall converter in it not some super tight 2500 and highway gears.

If there was a batting avg for hijacking threads, some of these guys (not you or JY) would be in Soto's earnings level. :)

I thought we were talking fast 318s here. Am I wrong?

The car in question is GTX John's national record holding stocker.

Yeah I figured it was John's car. All good. Just messing around. I remember going through a bunch of connecting rods looking for long ones back in the day.

The hijack of the thread earlier and playing into that. I got a pinto that runs 9's with a 4 cylinder and hamster wheel. Look at me type nonsense. Then belittle someone else because they run something, win races and it's substandard. Just dumb stuff.

Where are they running the 330' track. @Slantsix64
Putting a good running Double pumper on the car may help get the 60' down. Usually whatever you pick up in 60', double that at the 1/4 pole.
Converters now are nothing like the marshmellow donuts we had back in the 80's. Way more tech, and can be street driven easily. A nice tight 8" converter on the street is a lot fo fun!

I think (think!) it's in Perris ca. At least that's the way I remember it. I hadn't followed up for more info because Irwindale was running, a longer track, with track prep, and 20 minute away for me, as opposed to more than an hour (at least!) to Perris.
Now that Irwindale is gone........ I hope Perris IS actually running.

@Slantsix64 Don’t go to perris. First of all it’s a stupid 300ft track, and second the guy is a crook and pissed off a LOT of people doing some shady ****. Make the trip out to Chuckwalla. We’ll be out there on the 4th for the big money no prep race.

Drag Strip — Chuckwalla Valley Raceway
4th of what?
An old racing buddy was gonna try to make a race there last year, but didn't make it.
I'll go to spectate, if allowed.

You mean the street where they have to dodge the cops? :)

That's cool the run some drags out there.

January. It’s open to the public just like Irwindale was. It’s a legit race.

No no. We ain’t dodging no cops. It’s on the up n up.
The street outlaws thing when they said they were out there and had a road blocked off. Knowing the area and how wide the "road" was, they weren't on 177 headed to Parker. LOL

I think I know where the outlaws race on the "street" in vegas.
I KNOW I know where our local (az) street racers race.
I'm just not interested in racing hustlers for money. Besides, I'm nor near fast enough, and look faster than I am, lol.

Chuckwalla is about the same trip from my az house as it is from my ca house. I'll be there. Hope my buddy and his stepson make it. They have Seriously fast street cars.
