Maybe it's just me but the 1 in 318 just doesn't look right. And the spacing between the 3 and the 8 is too wide.

I know Dana Downer!

here is a VERY quick thought

They could easily tighten up the gap between the 318 numbers with whoever comes up with the new cad image program. Also easy to change the font on the 1 too.

If you have ever seen the sign people do the files for printing out the auto decals and signs it works about the same way. Totally adjustable, just need someone with some patience to get them to look like the real deal.

The spacing could be tightened up a little. I think the 1 looks a little off too but still looks ok.

The ‘1’ could be made to look more like one of these from the era?

I know People can use Photo shop to create this from imagery. just needs to be saved out as a DXF or other Vector image to be able to be converted to machine code.

I could do it in 3D with SolidWorks if I had a high resolution image of a real emblem the 3 and the 8 are easily duplicated from a 383 emblem the 1 would be the best guess number.

It's all in the Font!

What I would need is an actual 340 emblem correct for the model year. and some example emblems of a 1 from the time to get width and height and post locations.

I also just picked up a 3D printer I am dyeing to try out!

I bought a 383 emblem. It’s got broken posts but its in the mail.. I have my original 340 emblems somewhere too. I have planned to meet with a local person to have a vector file made. I was just waiting on the 383 emblem to be delivered.

Are there any real emblems with a 1 in them?

Mostly just need to see the shape of a Chrysler Dodge Plymouth "1" of the time. does it have a bar under it. would it have rounded corners mimicking the 3 and the 8 or would it be straight like the one I made in paint. I woukd say a 4 would give a reasonable starting point (width of the vertical part and the angled part.

I'm no graphic artist so knowing what "looks right" is hard for me. I'm more of a symmetry brained person.

I don't have a proper graphics card so I could not chrome the face
since I did not have one to measure this is best guess from the image

Would you want the font to be like this?

I can not find a good straight on high res photo of the 3 and the 4

If I had a straight on photo of the emblem and some key dimensions I could do like the 3 above

the 3 will be the 3 and the 8, the 4 might become a 1?

there is this 360 too

The 318 may look good as a modified version of the 360? I still prefer the 318 four barrel but I thing just a plain old 318 would be fine too!

Here is are reasonable priced 318 emblems for the A Body 2 Scoop Hoods

Looks pretty close to mopar style, leave off the i.

if somebody figures out how to do a 318 script for the hood scoops, I'm in for 3 sets !!!

Here are some Font Examples:

Top Font: Tahoma Bold
Bottom Font: Gautami Bold

Tahoma looks like the correct font but needs to be squashed down a bit to look like the the factory mopar emblems.

Maybe the Photoshop program can do that to come up with a correct image?

340 (YearOne)(1).png

Edit:

There now that is better on getting the emblem numbers to look more like factory Mopar.

Did a "Print Screen" then I was able to paste them into a new word document, then I was able to stretch them to proportion in the new Word document.

Keep playing here with the number proportions, this is even better yet:

The words "FOUR BARREL" are coming into better play too.

More Tweeks on the Lettering and proportions.

Need an answer! You name the style!

If it's the 383 four barrel style I need some dimensions.

Length and width of the top chrome section of the "3"

The backside length and width of the "3"

The thickness of the "3"

The length and width of the chrome front of the Four Barrel bar

The length and width of the back of the Four Barrel bar

The distance between the bottom of the "3" and the top of the bar

The height and width of "L"

The width of the horizontal and vertical sections of the "L"

The depth of the lettering on the bar.

We can figure the pins later or you can use adhesive to secure.

Here is another style to come up with for the Twin Hood Scoops

318-FOUR-BARREL

Could probably cut off the Red FOUR BARREL part of the emblems and come up with a "318" to put in front of them.

Hmmmm . . .

Another potential source for a "1" of the era

I like the Foot on the #1 gives it a little more definition and something to stand on. A little more balanced out with the other numbers. As long as the foot is done in the proper proportion and is not to big.

And from a manufacturing point of view it provides more strength where it meets up with the FOUR BARREL box area.

I was talking with my machinist buddy about our endeavor on the emblems, his reply:

It takes some doing but looks nice when it's perfected
