318 power!

I don't see any reason to lament a racer not wanting to discuss details.
Stock Eliminator has always been a technical game.
Be greatful with what those guys are willing to share.
Some of it applies more generally and all of it can be learned from as long one understands the type of restrictions they work with.

It is a LOT of Duration and the Duration is
the issue with Piston to Valve Clearance even more than lift ( I am quite
sure my Enemies will have Hessy fit about that ).
Anyone who knows how an engine works will not have a problem with that statement.

Holdener just did a cutaway to demonstrate P to V because he got tired of trying to explain it to people.

Never bet against the 318!

Theres a feller with a late model 340 for sale in the calssifieds $1600 gets ya out of 318 land, thats a deal IMO.

No truer words spoken!!

I've run into many people that talk a good show but when I suggest let's all go to the track, I get crickets! Plenty of bench racers but few who want to burn some rubber and fuel. Everybody has or had a car that ran in the 9's. Yea, right!

Just human nature I suppose. So my wife and I head off to the track alone and have some fun meeting plenty of new good guys/gals with cars that DO go down the track.

Very true, especially around here.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I really appreciate it.

At my advanced age I tend to get a bit
Thinned skinned now and then!!

I have really been taking a beating lately on
this particular forum by several guys that will
remain unnamed and I am not used to it yet.

The most I have learned, was from a friend who raced Super Stock. He debunked so many High Performance myths constantly perpetrated in magazines and "general consensus". I always loved watching Stock and Super Stock class racing since "supposedly" the engines were representative of stock based engines. Back then, castings and carb numbers were enforced, with absolutely no porting allowed. It showed what an engine was capable of. So if anyone really wants to learn something real, there are a few people here that one should follow and think about what they say, and don't say. @GTX JOHN is one of them.

Alot of video game racers also...

Speaking of which, William Byron won Daytona Monday. He was a video game racer.
Oh yeah I see them on the highway. It was only a matter of time till those who learned how to drive on Play station turned up...if some have found a way to win I say Good for them:)

Frickin kids now days. About 10 years ago, my oldest got his drivers license. I came home and my pick up was gone. (5 speed manual) I asked him how he knew how to drive a stick he said "well, Google Dad" Smart azz kid. Just like his old man!

For someone that don't like 318 likes to bring back dead 318 threads.

302 with Stock size 1.78 Intake and 1.50 Valves.
But I take a flatter Ferrea Valve and cut it down the
small size and add a little massage to it.
When done they flow 220+CFM @ 400 lift and up
to the that point (But not Past that) they are quite close
to my prepared X Heads on my Demon 340 Stocker.

Glad that you Gentleman think I am that Humorous and
and glad Igive you something to get a good laugh about!!!

In a few months when I sell and find a few more extra parts = I will be.
off all these Forums for good as no one seems to appreciate my opinion
when I try to help them.

It is easy to throw mud and laugh at someone from the sidelines
as opposed to invest your time and money to compete in racing
at a National Level.

All they do here is bench race and argue. There is a good parts network here though.

Ah, another one for us to babysit.

Too bad you have to sift through all the BS to get to the good stuff.

There's no babysitting I just don't take crap from people . Its unwarranted I for the most part dont attack I retaliate and stand up for myself, i voice my thoughts and opinions Il never say a 318 is a performance engine I dont feel that way thats where alot of these arguments come from people changing the facts. , and I call it as I see it. . you have a group here that attacks posters whether you want to admit it or not. I have about 40 of them on ignore.

I don’t ever recall anyone ever saying a 318 was a performance engine. Even more so that it was equipped with a 4bbl carb in the smog years never pushed that engine anywhere near the title. Just the mention of it having a 4bbl was not an arrow point in that direction but a nod of it having one (4bbl) is all was ever mentioned.

If anyone is twisting words it’s (you) Dartswinger70.

It's obvious your trying to get this dead thread going so you can argue about 318s lol
I don't care just find it funny, I don't mind defending 318s :)

I prefer this argument than your other favorite one who shall not be named don't want to trigger ya, you've been a lot better on that one :)

John and his machinist could give us a post on “valve angle secrets” lol. I’m sure they would be willing to pass on 100’s of 1000’s of dollars worth of testing they have done over the years. That is info that you will never see floating around.
Yup used to call it "trade secrets" its like try to find info on rebuilding a modern transmission Like an automatic out of a 10 year old mustang. You have to buy Alldata for that and even then...there are updated hard parts and valve body mods that, if you aren't in the know the trans will just fail again.
