Ok guys here is what I built:
1970 340 bored .030 over
Weisco 10.75 Forged Pistons
3.58 stroke Scat Crank (aprox 377 ci)
Eagle H-beam rods
Mopar Performance Windage tray
Head and Main Studs
Edelbrock Heads (Ported and Flowed)
Bullit .530 lift Hydraulic Roller
Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers
Rollmaster Billet Chain and Gears
Mopar Performance 6-Pak
Mopar Performance Electronic Distributor
Hooker HPC Super Comp Headers
Moroso 8qt oil pan
Flow cooler water pump

As of last night the final pull on the Dyno was: 469 HP and 493 lbs of torque on 93 octane. We think with some tweeking these numbers will increase. The next step will be a chassis Dyno, when the drive train is installed. These are true numbers with no adjustments for conditions. I should be able to drive this combination any where.

I'll be putting this 340 in a 1969 Dart GT Conv.. It's the Yellow one on my garage page, check it out. 8.75 3.55 sg, 727 10" converter. BBP and disc brake, with sway bar

At what rpm were those numbers achieved? What was your idle vacuum? What was the duration @ .050 on the cam?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Sounds like a nice build. And with very little cam i it too. Nice job.

The horsepower was @5800 and the torque was @4350. I'll have to check the chart to see what the idle vacuum is. The cam is a custom grind Bullit, I'll get the .050 duration posted asap. This is a very mild camshaft. I live in NC,and I intend on driving it to Fla, Ohio, and possibly Canada.

Killer, what all did you do to the carbs. I just bought a bunch of stuff from Promax for my six pack. I've got less compression, and only 346 cid and I'm not running a roller cam, but XE285HL cam.

Lee,
The carbs are out of the box with the exception of rejetting the center. They sound crisp and clean when they open. Cylinder temps are great, and the plugs are fantastic. I think the key is to have new carbs, because the throttle shafts wear and even if you rebuild them, they still may pull air, unless you rebush them, and if I was going that far, I would buy new ones. After I get it in the car, I will start changing springs on the out boards as needed. Have you tried yours?

Lee one more thing, the factory fram style element in the repo set up will hurt it by 15hp and 18lbs of torque. Can we say K&N?! I'll know what the K&N will do when I put it on the chassis dyno.
Martin

Wow, I happen to get a k&n with my breather from Koller Dodge way back in the day.

So how hard did you tweak you carbs? Did you put jet plates in the outboards, did you put a different meetering plate in the center carb? What jets did you run?

Lee

The out board carbs are stock, we did'nt do anything wild, just stepped up the center carb aprox. .003 in size. The guys at H&F Performance are super trick, they drilled the metering block and my motor loved it. These guys build Super Stock and Modified IHRA engines and they are GOOD. Other than that, Its all OEM, But remember, my motor is not that wild, just good parts.

Ditto

Do you have thr flow #s for the heads?

I'm going to pick the motor up on Friday morning, and I'll get the Flow and Dyno charts with it. I'll post it as soon as I get back. If you guys have anymore questions about it, please let me know. I'd like to help if I can.

Ok, thanks. When you say drilled the metering plate do you mean on the center metering plate or the jet plates in the outboards? What was your timing set at?

Lee

We only drilled the center metering plate. We didn't do anything to the outboard carbs. I'll have to check the dyno sheet, but I think the timing was set @28 degrees BTC on the last pull.

Hmm, curious to see what they would drill on the center carb. I wish I could go for a ride in that just one.

Lee

Lee, I'll get all the scoop on it Friday and I'll drop you a line with the details.
