340 build No POWER need help w tune

-
Well guys I'm about to take this cursed Friday built carb and smash it on the ground. No matter what I do she runs rich. And can't idle without being on the curb idle. For some reason I gave the motor a good crack of the throttle. And the fuel pressure dropped back down to 6 and stayed there .....mmmmmmk?? .. I've done everything I've been told from all you helpful members and nothing seems to work. This carb ran rich on my buddies car and now mine.
And one other note. When I snapped the throttle and the fuel pressure dropped to normal the Rpm decided to raise at idle and stay at 1400. Oie.
I feel like a broken record. Sorry guys.

This is so hard to follow.

Fuel pressure still above 7 AT ANY TIME... FIX IT!

Well today the fuel pressure was below 7 and still ran rich.
Waiting on my parts guy to look at regulators ect. Gotta redo all the new fuel lines and fittings. The fuel pump problem will be fixed but I'm a 100% sure it will still run eye bleeding rich.

did you check the air bleeds like i said? no... do it...

the idle air bleeds allow air to enter the idle circuit. so the more you open the idle mix screw the more mixture you pull thru the it. with the bleed plugged its only pulling fuel, hence the reason you can still kill the motor. but when the bleed is open you get a LEANER mixture.

what you need to do is pull the primary side (or both if 4 corner idle) float bowl and block off and blow air thru the passages. then spray some carb cleaner. i like to use a flashlight and look thru the passages (flashlight up against the block side of the body looking thru the bleeds) no light means its plugged

Ok. I did check the air bleeds but not as good as u described. I just inspected from the top down.
And the holley is a 4 corner idle. About one year old barley used.

apparently not...

Right now all four 1 turn out. But remeber they have no effect. When turned all the way in the car does not die

Mopar kid. One question. When I opened the secondaries by the adjustment screw from below the carb. (To allow in more air) how much should of I opened them.

If you need more pics let me know

only needs to be open enough to keep the primary blades right under the transfer slots.

Not if that thing has 4 corner idle.

If it's 2 corner, they may be right, 4 corner not a chance. The secondary IAB are SMALL!

im used to .035 for an idle bleed but you may have to play around to see what it likes...

as i said earlier the smaller the hole the richer the mixture, all the screw does is give more or less of said mixture.

im having a brain fart and cant remember which (inners or outers) are the idle bleeds... (HELP CB) lol...

once we find out which are the idles and what size they are i would go .005 bigger all the way around and see what happens

oh now you show the NO2 solenoid! is the fuel side leaking???

Hahahaha sorry!!
I don't see any leaks.... The eletrical is not hooked up on the solenoids yet. ( the solinoid should be closed)
I hope I'm right or I've just wasted a lot of time

for now just take the line off the reg to the solenoid and plug it...

Ok good stuff! I'm still new to the fine tuneing on these carbs. And don't know a lot about air bleeds ect.
