Better. Better "at what". As usual, the hit dogs holler and people argue about anything. There's not enough difference between the two to live on. That's the truth, no matter how hard somebody is a 340 ball licker.
Where has that bottomless pit been anyhow? With all his knowledge...you would think we would be reading an abundance of threads by him where he shows us 11's on a shoestring budget with 302 heads, oddball obsolete swap meet intake manifolds and some 3.23'sYou just need another streetmaster or 302 head thread to get you through.
I think that's a very fair statement! I agree.I love the 340. Always will. Not because it’s better than all the other small blocks it’s because it’s the pinnical of all small blocks. Kim
What's the purpose of boring it 0.080"? Wouldn't that cause over heating issues? I believe in only boring a engine enough to clean up the bores. There's article's on people running 1.925" intake valve's and port work that give just as good or better flow numbers than people who use 2.020" intake valve's. Attention to bowl area is important.
Asking for my own curiosity. Shrouding and Velocity high on your list ??There is more to cylinder heads than flow. Flow numbers are pretty low on my list of important things.

Like a V8 - 4 on one bank, and the other 4 on the opposite bankMan I really did divide the small-block family LOL

I just couldn't help it! lolTroublemaker. Lol.
Indeed. If the 360 had been built for performance at the time, the 340 would be a footnote, or dare I say an asterisk.
But it wasn't.If the 360 had been built for performance at the time, the 340 would be a footnote, or dare I say an asterisk.
Exactly. Just like the 400 big block. Never got any sort of love but everyone loves them best for strokersSo we as racers fixed it.
They can be made to haul the mail with a stock stroke, too.Exactly. Just like the 400 big block. Never got any sort of love but everyone loves them best for strokers
Because A 360 is a truck motor
Not a 400HP.400's were dogs from the factory..a "boat anchor" 318 would beat it

Careful..... this 318 Duster took out big cube motors....Hell, I thought everyone here knew the 318 was the pinnacle of Mopar small block power, maybe even more potential than the legendary 426 Hemi!
I can't see where your personal hobbies have anything to do with thisBetter. Better "at what". As usual, the hit dogs holler and people argue about anything. There's not enough difference between the two to live on. That's the truth, no matter how hard somebody is a 340 ball licker.
