340 Piston to valve clearance w/RHS heads

Yeah I had thought about buying aftermarket rods too...I think the only Chinese made (but US machined) rods I couldn't find anything bad about were the K1's. Seems like they are good. I'm still going to at least get a price on custom diamond pistons that would be zero deck and allow me to use the Fel-Pro 1008's at 0.039" thick...and be light.

You didn't find anything wrong with the K-1's because there are not many in use compared to Skat, Eagle and the others........ Put more in use and you will see failures just like the rest. Most of the time it is NOT the parts fault for the failure but guys will try and put the blame there. Assembly problems, Too much NOS or just a Crappy Tune and guys will blame the parts I guarantee it! Wasn't my fault I only had my timing at 80*, I only shoved a 250 shot down its throat, what do you mean I had to change the fuel jet also?? Crap like that is what I believe goes on.

Sounds good to me. I had my local machine shop check over every one of my Scat I-beams and they were impressed, and they didn't need anything other then balancing, the big and small ends all measured out perfectly. Supposed to be good for up to 750 hp too.

Scat I Beams are a very nice piece for sure!

I bought a set of the Falcon H Beams for SBM that I am using on my TT Build.
I got them for $298.00, they look exactly the same as the EAGLE H Beams to me. The small end needed to be honed though cause they didn't finish machine them. I called them on it and they gave me a $80.00 Refund on the spot, no questions asked. Brian at IMM took care of the final honing.

Here they are, price went up a little. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H-be...rQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2659wt_941

Prices have gone up,when I bought my cat h-beams they were only $289 but that was a year ago or so,they pretty much all seem close in initial design/quality.On any current build I use the I beams,I will always run new rods when considering the weight savings and the price of bolts/machining on old rods-and thats if you already have floated rods with good bushings.

Hey it your so busy whatcha doin' blabbin on here? Lets get that Twin Turbo 410 on the PUMP!!
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Believe me it will go on the Pump. I need to free up some time to come pick up the Short Block and get it done! The only thing I am missing is the Megasquirt 2 along with having time to assemble the top end etc.

Working about 70 Hours a week right now.

I know it goes on. I consistently see the good builders turn out stuff that runs great and lives...

Usually when you see a "don't ever buy this crap crank again!!!!" threads, it's someone who assumed, and didnt check things, or didnt weigh in outside factors like a cheap converter ballooning up and taking out the thrust. It wasnt the converter. It was that cheap crank from COMMUNIST china. OOOOH Ooooga Boooga!!!!!:sign5:

When all else fails, blame it on the the part that cost less, when in reality it was a good part.

Because we all know a callies crank made here wont lose the thrust from a ballooning converter. It's made of kryptonite. And therefore cannot be broken even from mistakes.:joker: Slap that ***** in and run her!
"Cost me 1200 bucks, what could go wrong?"

Those are nice looking rods for the money Louis!

I did talk to a guy who is a diamond dealer and he said that they could take the 51001 pistons, adjust the compression height from 1.802 to 1.820 to get zero deck on my block, and make them in 4.080" (0.040 over) for $725. He said its no big deal. I know it seems kind of expensive but w/e you only live once...the standard ones that they start with are 566g so my modified version will probably come in under 600g. These run the thinner rings for less friction. They're also 4032 so the piston to wall clearance is still able to be fairly tight.
