I've got a warmed over 340, X heads, Crane 1.5 RR stuffed in a '27 Ford. I've perused the posts & haven't found an answer to my question. For those of you that have gone the retro solid roller lifter route, have you had to clearance the pushrod holes? I thought the shorter lifter height might make clearancing redundant, hopefully allowing me to leave the engine in the car.

Thanks

I think there are to many variables to say for sure without testing. And to be honest everytime i try to make a job quicker and easier by avoiding extrawork it ends up a royal pain in the ***,therefore just lift the engine out of the car and hang it in a enginestand and take your time my experience says that you will save time by doing the extra work(consider that this advice comes from murphys best friend).

Ask Mike Liston from MRL if you want a definitive answer.

Thanks for the reply. I pm'd Mike before this thread, & he said that he had no experience with stock heads and solid RR's. I was hoping that someone on the board might have an answer.

I have iron x heads, howards solid roller rockers, harland sharp 1.5 rockers, and manton pushrods. No clearance problems with my set up. I did take alot of time setting up the rocker arms with shims and such to make them have perfect spacing and alignment.

too many variables to say for sure, like valve length and cam base circle size etc. I think with 1.5 rockers u will maybe be ok, or manton may make 1/4" pushrods. some of my 5/16" pushrods rub my stock heads a tiny bit when valves are closed, as valves open - no problem. like oliver said - fine tune the rocker alignment

WTH is a "retro solid roller" lifter?? Never heard of that. If you are talking about a retro HYDRAULIC roller lifter, it can be a pain in the *** to get pushrod clearance.
