Putting together a 72' 340, 4.070 bore, L2316's, Hughes flat tappet cam 237/242 @.050 548/555 lift 108 LSA/105 ICL, ported J heads 70cc.

Have a Stealth intake, looking at the Rpm air gap, car will see more street than strip.

Going into a 71' Challenger with 727, 8.75 with 3.91's.

Opinions welcome! TIA

Ethier will be fine. The Stealth will warm up faster in the cold weather if the car see's any, the RPM will take a while to warm up, about 5 min.'s in cool weather.

that thing ought to spin pretty good. I am ready to do one very similar to that but haven't decided on the cam yet. that looks like a pretty sirius street cam. any estimates on expected HP.

Make sure the deck hieght is set properly or it will feel rather sluggish with that cam. You're going to want at least 10:1 static and you'll need a smaller chamber than 70ccs. I'd also be seriously thinking about running a single plane M1 on it.

Have you thought about a different cam? That seems pretty radical for a car thats gonna see more street than drag duty. JMO

Block has been square decked, but I haven't mocked it up yet to see how far out of the hole yet. I have already thought about getting the heads milled to about a 64cc chamber, and using an .028" gasket, and if there out of the hole at least .020, I'll get around 10.64 static.

The car will see mainly Friday night street action as far as being street driven, I'll run a 110/93 mix.

I think it should push 425-450Hp if I can get enough compression in it. Heads are pretty much maxed out- I'll definately check that M1 out.

Thanx for the replies!

Were you planning on running a loose converter( 2300-2700 stall )? You will need it if you go to the M1 or any single plane intake.

Shez, I like the cam. Looks great for a street stomper and good enuff for street driving the kids to Sunday school.

As long as the compression's there I think it's a decent choice. It's not that racey, just more racey than street.

Yea, it'll get the groceries, nothing too crazy. I plan on running a custom 9.5" converter from Edge racing, I have one of their converters in another car, it works good. - Thanks guys.

Cam should perform just fine........I run mine on the street all the time. 256/262@50 .618 intake .624 exhaust 106 LSA 103 ISL Solid Flat tappet.......But it is a 410 I run an M1 Single Plane.

I am gonna run that M-1. - That intake is right in the range of that Hughes cam.
