Where do all these people get the notion that a 410 can't rev....lmfao.
Cam spec's ?
all kidding aside..it's just physics.
In a 4" stroke engine each piston will travel 16 inches for 1 rpm.In an engine with a 3" stroke the piston only has to travel 12 inches for 1 rpm.
So at 5000 rpm the 4" stroke engine piston will have to travel 5000 x 4" or 20,000 more inches than a 3" stroke engine, so it should take longer to get there?
these 2 engines are just different in the way they make power.
How heavy is that piston on the end of the rod???
Sonny's engines seems to have little trouble getting their 5 inch stroke engines to spin 8,000 plus.........
Mod Motor Fords have little effort zinging 8,000 plus.....
stroke is not an issue here...............
I am seriously photogenic. My wife says I'm eye candy! Take that to the bank!
this with compression and ported W2's. Sounds like a 13 sec combo to me. ha ha whatever you say.281/281 seat

Late comer to a quickly growing thread!I was wondering if some hillbilly slapped together Some budget cheap 410 Stroker with Stock Smog heads if it would have a chance against a 340 x block with a genius Machinist working on it?
It's a semi long story....but the casting numbers on my heads do not match.
Nice explaination of "country dumb"Late comer to a quickly growing thread!
I'll answer this question simply!
I have met some really smart and crafty HillBilly people.
I have met some stupidly super seriously educated Ivory league people how should be shot because we some how, by sheer luck I'm sure, Darwins law didn't get them.
Never under estimate the American Red Neck and the hill billy cousins. Not matter how much there family tree looks like a flat pole or what kind of drugs the did while getting pregnant. It don't care if you think they eat paint chips at the movies I nstead of potato chips.
Just when you think your smart, that's when you ge done!
Honestly for a 13-14 second car I wasn't expecting such a large cam. This combo is 12 second or less. And I like it !281/281 seat

I don't know what each engines maximum limit would be.
..maybe the amount of fuel you could get through it or piston speed at some point?
My 410 rev's 8000+ no problem and extremely quickly. My heads stop flowing at 5800. I can shift @ 6200 or 7200 rpm's or higher but still get the same et so why ?
So what is the "tale of the tape" here? Jpar has a strip car with a 410 and a tunnel ram and 4spd. YR has a street car with 340 single 4bbl and a 4spd. Jpar has more CI and one more carb and YR has a bigger cam. I assume jpar has a lighter car? What other particulars have been left out? YR hasn't been to the track yet and jpar has. YR has DOT tires and jpar has slicks. Anything else?

Okay I'll try and address these at a time. yes my car is a bit more of a strip car has license plates on it and so forth but I have stripped the bumpers off the hood off the interior out but I have welded in a roll bar and well that in some other things too to make up for the weight of the Interior a little bit. As far as my two four barrels compared to YR's one 4 barrel I would switch manifolds and carburetors with him for the race no problem. I know my dual quad tunnel ram is more of a showpiece than an actual good functioning carburetor. And I may have been recently drag racing over the last couple years a little bit but from what YR says he has a vast knowledge and experience with drag racing. I think my car would be literally unsafe with street tires. I think everybody's missing the real key here the hillbilly doesn't have a lot of experience doing head work, and YR is a cracked Machinist he probably has his heads flowing quite good. I can have all the cubic inches underneath the heads and all the carburetor I want above the heads but they can't neither one of them make it all squeeze through the tiny holes that my head's have.

Oh wait, I'm still trying to get into the 13's with this pig. So maybe not.
