Ok,thanks for all the info IQ.I can tell you have been doing this for quite some time.I have only been doing this for 4 yrs and there is some of this Ive still got to learn.I have never used roller rockers but have used stock stuff. This 318 is my first 318 build but did have 360 i built but never ran and sold all of it except the top end that i putting on the 318.This time i ready to run the 318 but that 360 would have been a torquey motor!

Yea, IQ is on the ball. LOL, not his first rodeo.

Yeah,I gonna use the kb162 pistons and do like he said in post #29 and run the Voodoo for i dont need all that comp!9.4 or 9.5 is all i need.

If you really want to get this thing to leave when you get it done, try to pick a converter with a high enough stall to get you well into your power band. The 383 isn't a long stroke engine to begin with, add a large cam, bottom end decreases more, big intake, same thing, then put in too tight of a stall converter, you may have a dog on the bottom end. Is this a street/strip play toy, or a daily driver?

Build it similar to a hot 340 and it'll haul ***. That's all it is. A big bore 340.

That is a great analogy! I wouldn't go any tighter than a 3,500 rpm stall. I have a 9.5" Dynamic behind my very mild 383, it will flash to 4,500 at launch, but is plenty driveable. There is no soggy, boggy launch with that converter. It's a bit much with my tiny cam, but would be great with what you are looking at.
