Got the first 3 coats of clear on today. Let it dry for a few days then sand it with 600 grit. Then ill spray 3 more coats. After that wet sand & buff.

That paint looks fantastic. Retro drag race theme?

That thing has a BIG 60s flair goin on! good job!

600 grit? I have used 800, but I had always thought 600 would be too gritty. I guess not, eh?

Is this a catalyzed clear? 600 seems way too aggressive. What does the paint supplier recommend for dry time before recoating?

I've cleared over a lot of 600 before they told me the number is 800 for that. Looked fine to me. Cutting and buffing sucks.
Great job cawley

Finer the better, as long as you can get it 100% flat/smooth. (stay away from edges)

PPG deltron clear mixed 4:1 with a hardner dry times depends on booth temp i try to keep my booth at 75-80 when & after i spray ill let it set for 2 -3 days before sanding

I just bought the Beetro spray gun another member mentioned. I'm almost ready to shoot the area behind the fender, and my rebuilt valence panel. So far, this thing shoots like a much more expensive paint gun. I'll post results, if they're good.

If the goal is to "bury" those stripes in clear, or have the paint surface be glass smooth, then 600 is a good, fast, 1st cut. Then 3 more coats of clear and cut with 800, then 1000, etc. Lots of work, but absolute perfection in the end.
