5.7 swap questions?

-
Stock set up for me, although, highly upgraded.

Not to derail the conversation too much, but does anyone know the difference between the older 5.7's and the newer ones? The main thing I'm talking about is the HP difference. The original 5.7's were 345 or something like that, but the newer ones they're putting out in the past year or so are rated at around 380. Were there any changes made to the engine or was it just a factory tuning thing? I'm looking at the 5.7 swap myself and plan to put a cam and maybe 6.1 heads on one but don't know if I should be looking for a specific year range of engine or not.

Good discussion here: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=97262

The Variable Cam Timing is the hold up at the moment. But I am confident that someone will over come that issue in the future, though it may be a while.

Basically IMO, the 2009 apears better all around :
better flowing cylinder heads
more compression
full-floating wrist pins
hd oil pump
10.5 compression vs. 9.6
pistons look a bit thicker in the ring land area (though I have not confirmed)
oh and 35 hp increase over 08 down

plus you would use the 6.1 intake and exhaust...

But, there is nothing available at the moment to control 2009 'Eagle' engines in a retro fit to early chassis.

Check out the link above. I have put a lot of info there...
