No the mopar ones which I believe are made by Edelbrock. They've got the same port volume and flow numbers. Why? Are all Edelbrock BB mopar heads angle plug? The Edelbrock head?
OK, I thought as much but wondered about it for a minute. I do think the MP heads are otherwise Edelbrock’s. Why are the Edelbrock plugs on an angle? Well, I have had only 1 big block, a low deck 400, and I think angled plugs would have helped with the 1-3/4 Hedman headers. Specifically #5 & #6. Other than that 1 and only 1 experience, IDK why.No the mopar ones which I believe are made by Edelbrock. They've got the same port volume and flow numbers. Why? Angled plug can be a better set up. But a lot of headers wont accommodate angled plugs. I was just thinking I dont want to hijack this thread. It's still will his heads work for his combo. If you are having custom headers done go with angled plugs!OK, I thought as much but wondered about it for a minute. I do think the MP heads are otherwise Edelbrock’s. We are running a TF 4.25 stroke w mopar journals with a 3/8 pickup in a engine yet. Ground off the boss and bent the pickup to clear. That engine has both mopar 2.375 journals and bulky Ly rods, neither helped clearancing. Back at that time in the early 90s we didn't really have any option we could afford so we made it work. Our latest go around we are using a TF 4.5 bryant crank for a 540 but in a b. We turned the rods down to 2.2 and are using scat h beams. I think we have a shot at making the pickup clear with the bbc rods even w the 4.5 throw. But it takes a bunch of time to make that fit. External pickup is likely the way to go.. The big journals and oem style rod bolts worked w the 4.25 but barely. It is a pain to modify the pickup and I don't see the bigger pickup 1/2" tube fitting in there. We run oil restrictors in both our strokers because our crank is cross drilled and the 3/8 pickup couldn't supply enough idle oil pressure.Does anyone have a oil pick up the fits in the block. Or has anyone built 1 to clear the 1/2 inch stroke? Thanks. Kim
