63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

I hope Zach won't be too disappointed in my radio choice~ I had ordered the one he suggested but, long story. I've had great luck with these Kenwood radios, waiting on some center vents. At least the hole is there, once the center vents are installed I can prep the dash for paint. I've asked Gary several times and he insists on the matt red, like the ash tray in the pic.
time to make lunch~ days go by too quickly!

IT's 30 degrees here~ unbelievable!
I've been working on my speedometer/dash, etc. I bought this el cheapo gps speedometer from Amazon, had really good reviews, so what the heck, it was only 70 bucks, if it breaks, I'll go with something else, but in the meantime, it fit very well, then cut out the rest of the holes for 2 1/6 gauges, then making the lines on the speedometer panel itself was kind of testy, and came out "ok".

I would like a constant voltage regulator for the speedometer, it's 12v and my aftermarket mini alternator stays around 14 volts~ any ideas?

ok, had enough for today, cutting those stupid lines in the panel gave me a heck of a headache!

The unit has a large collar screw, but it fit so well into my panel, it screwed in tight, there wasn't room for the collar anyway.

That makes me feel much better on the speedo Neil~ it'd be cool for you to post a pic of your Nash and the speedo here on my build :thankyou:

i've got that same gps speedo/tach for my nash. re the stereo, i've always picked kenwood if i have the choice too.
neil.

You shouldn't need a 12 volt regulator, as that is a generic rating for automotive equipment. Automotive "12 volts" is usually 9 - 18 volt tolerant.

i'll try to remember where i've put all the gauges for a pic, lol. meanwhile here's where i am with my nash, front's a bit higher than it'll be as no motor/trans fitted yet.

Gauge looks great in the dash ,but those lines would give me a headache if was doing them too .

BTW that Nash is going to get terrible gas mileage , going uphill all the time … LoL

Hah. No disappointment to be had here. The only person you need to make happy is yourself. Kenwood makes good stuff, it should turn out well.

Agree. I test them on a tester usually around 14.3 output. SS is the way to go. I have them if needed nors

Finding the right size vents was testy~ finally found some that fit the dash. Back side is a 2.5" oval thing. I have another center piece and may try again making a nicer trim. The vents are actually underneath the trim and they clip into the holes I made. Getting interesting I'd say! ;)

Nice save - and good choice for the engine and transmission! Fun project (until the Texas summer arrives)!

Here in the mountains of NC, in the Summer it gets dark and cools off. In Texas....it just gets dark! Found that out in 2005 after Hurricane Rita. Our company sent hundreds of linemen from across our system to help restore power. We arrived in Silsbee, TX at 2 am and were being staged at a small local airport with the rest of the Progress Energy crews. We got out and had a brief meeting at 2 am...and it was 93 degrees. We slept in air conditioned circus tents set up on the runway, so it wasn't too miserable. One of my co-workers coined that phrase above with "At home it gets dark and cools off. In Texas it just gets dark!"

How can people hear their engine running with the radio and AC on!!????? Thats 95% of it!! :BangHead:
My Pa was a conservative car owner. He said " AC, PS, PB, carpet (Can't just hose that out!), new tires and radios are for the affluent and little girls, women and sissy guys!" Quote unquote!

lol, my hearing isn't what it used to be, when talking to Gary, I like to be able to hear him instead of saying what?? I do like quiet within reason and do like to hear my radio. However, going back in time, my '65 GTO, had a very nice sound from the Thrush mufflers. That was a cool car~ no pictures:( how sad.

nothing wrong with some creature comforts when we reach..... more mature years  . my big block nash gasser will have leather trim, ac, carpet (with underlay) and whatever other bells and whistles i can rustle up. it'll have the look and sound, just not so much on the inside, lol.
