Hello all
I have a wanted add in the trucks forum but i thouht what the heck its an "A" ;)
Im looking for a /6 auto alum case for the A100
It has a special trans mount that allows it to hang from the frame mount. Im going to post a pic of the tail mount for an example. The picture is of a trans i have but its a LA V8 727.

I know the early A van/trucks used an adapter plate and a crank spacer to adapt the slant to a 727 for a V8, in case you didn't know.

I do remember, but finding a setup i think would be hard. A wilcap adaptor is now over 1,200 dollars.
I guess i could swap to a V8 and the auto would work.Which makes me ask another question. Has anyone ever swaped the engines out and in the bottom of the engine compartment like the A body cars? I have a lift and rolling table. Lift and remove the frront axle and lower it to the table and lift the body. Just wondering

They normally get removed through the passenger side door with a cherry picker.

I have an empty slant six 727 case. I'm pretty sure you could swap your guts into the slant six case. However I'm not positive, there might be an issue with year differences.
Is your V-8 trans cable shifted?

It is cable shifted but in a different way than the cars.
Im sending a picture of the control arms and thet look like a standard auto. Does the slant case you have, have the A 100 trans mount on the uppper back of the trans?

Ok that is not what is considered a cable shifted trans, and it does have the late style NSS. The trans case I have is just the empty main case only. No tail housing or internal parts. I'm thinking you should be able to swap all the internals, and tail housing from your V-8 trans to the slant six case. However I am more familar with parts swapping on 904's, so I won't guarantee the swap. Maybe someone else could elaborate.

Charrlie, i agree it is not the same cable shifted as is in the cars. I have a couple of big block cable trans and the cable goes internal to shift them.
This is my first trans i have seen set up this way.
I also looked at my pics of the trans and yes the tailhousing has the mount so the main case should work with my internal parts. Id like to check with a trans shop ive used to ask if it should.
Can i ask for some pictures of the trans case, please and cost for it and the ride to Bakersfield Ca 93308 please?

You know there are numbers on the drive side case at the pan rail edge that will help me determine if i can swap insides and tail.
Thanks, Steve
