Thanks guys- here is another shot. Still missing some more trim (wheel wells, rocker, rear window, Barracuda script) and the grill center. Well, I have all the parts, but they still need to be refinshed. Interior needs a lot of work also... The dash needs to be painted, new carpet installed and and and...

Understood, but look where you are today compared to where you began

Not a lot more completed. North Carolina has had strange weather and a lot of rain which has kept me from painting any
have cut the floor pans and purchased a welder to replace those. Need a nice dry day to finish that project. Your car really looks great

My advise for rainy days is to start cleaning and polishing trim and other parts, so when you're done painting, everything is ready to go back on the car..

Have polished everything I have. May recover the sears this weekend. We have rain thru Sunday and I will be working Monday and Tuesday

Looks awesome. Still turning heads in LA traffic I'll bet

Yes, it does turn heads... Not many early Barracudas in LA.
Today I finally got the grille back together. Now I just need to finish the rear window chrome badge. I had some trouble painting on chrome. Even though I finally used that adhesion promoter stuff, the paint still bubbled up in some places.

Your car is looking amazing. Mine is still in the garage waiting. Granddaughter is having surgery on Wednesday. After this situation is completed I hope to get started again. Congratulations on a beautiful car

Best wishes for your granddaughter's surgery!

Today I tackled the rear window chrome badge...

Always looked a little naked without:

Took a while and I realized I was missing a stud etc, but I got it on there. The deck lid needs some adjustment, but I didn't want to mess with that today. I know it's from a '66, but it's sooooo much cooler...:

Next up is the interior... I need to finish filling the holes from the dash pad (I like it better without) and then prep and paint the dash. Then carpet. And all the other painted covers etc. I do have some pretty nice door panels and when I got them I thought they were just dirty, but it looks like the dirt is baked into the vinyl. Any ideas how to clean them? Anyone used vinyl spray paint before?
Here another shot after I washed her last night:

I haven't used the paint, but did read that go Jo hand cleaner was really good to clean and condition the old vinyl or leather. It really did well on some of the interior parts of mine
I'm not sure how it would do if you are planning to paint it though.
Someone else will have some advice.
Good luck

Thanks, I'll try that.
So, instead of doing anything practical, I painted the top of the air cleaner and put that super six sticker on there, that I've had laying around for a while. The rest of the engine compartment is not very pretty, that's why just a close up...

Looking good. Mine is on hold for now with my granddaughter going through the issues she has had
She is improving though

@Tadams, I hope your granddaughter is continuing to improve. I haven't gotten much done on the Barracuda lately other than changing the oil, spark plugs and spark plug wires. Today I'm going to approach fixing the exhaust leak with a new Remflex gasket. Yesterday I drove 125 miles from Echo Park to San Pedro, then to Upland and back to Echo Park without any issues, but I should really fix the front suspension and get the steering gear rebuilt. It's a little shaky... This photo was taken in San Pedro next to this cool Budweiser truck

So, I finally replaced the steel super 6 intake manifold with an aluminum one, that was on the the engine before, filled a small tear in the exhaust pipe by the flange with BlueMagic QuikSteel High Temperature Metal Repair and most importantly replaced the FelPro gasket with a Remflex gasket. The QuikSteel needs 4 hours to cure, so I couldn't start it up right away, but... Damn, it feels like a brand new car. Not only am I not suffocating anymore from the various exhaust leaks, it runs so much better and feels more powerful and the engine is super quiet now. Maybe time for a nice Magnaflow muffler... The steel intake manifold or more likely the gasket was leaking as well (you could smell the gas...), so I believe now more gas actually makes it into the combustion chambers. If you've ever had exhaust leak issues, Remflex is the way to go. It works so well, even though I broke off the last bolt on the right a while ago and was never able to get it out. Unbelievable... For a long time I've been thinking about putting a V8 back into the car (originally a V8 car, had the slant when I bought it), but after today I think I changed my mind. So happy... I don't have many photos, because my hands were greasy and I didn't want to touch my phone more than necessary, but here's a couple of the cheapo exhaust repair. Not pretty, but my engine compartment is not much to look at anyways

@65barracudaLA , Thanks for posting all of this up! It's just great to see what can be done and these little MoPars can still be driven daily. I just picked up an A Body for use as a daily while I finish working on my road runner. You're thread is a great read and an awesome motivator.

Your car looks awesome. That is a great area to cruise that you mentioned.
McKinley is doing great, thanks for asking.
My car is still in the same condition as it was. Between her surgery and me having flu like symptoms for the last couple of weeks, I've done nothing to my car. Hope this is a better week to get some work done, but with temperature in the upper 90's, we will have to see.
Have an awesome day

You continue to do great work 65LA! It's awesome that you drive her daily and let others see what a early a-body looks like!

I used the SEM vinyl "paint" on my door panels. As with most other things, prep is the key. Clean, clean, clean, then I used the SEM Vinyl prep spray before letting it dry and spraying with the SEM Black vinyl "paint". I covered up red vinyl door panels with black paint and all four door panels came out great. After a year and a half so far, so good.
