How about an integrated bulb socket!

What do you think about a removeable weather tight socket?
Especially if the socket could be removed without removing the Chrome Bezel. Easier to change bulbs.
Just a thought.

I got the socket spacing dialed in and am printing a sample!

I looked into that idea (and I like it in principal) would not be difficult to make the matching attachment but I just couldn't bring myself to do it! I like to maintain the OEM look and feel and functionality as much as possible.

And besides most of our backup lights have been changed once in the life of the car if that much! I am really torture testing these things by having the light on for 20 minutes. Typical time the bulb would be on is maybe 10 -20 seconds per backing up event. Kind of like the light in the radio. 56 years and still going strong.

KEEP THE IDEAS COMING!

One man's outside the box thinking, is another's million dollar idea!

3 hour print failure

Well user error failure.

But the integrated bulb socket is spot on

Finally I have an update!

I was able to test fit the holders on a 67 and a 69.

On the 69 the bulb holder has no interference (deeper chrome bezel) but it does come close to the hole in the rear crossmember (turns out the OEM units do to)

On 67 the bulb holder ALMOST touches with the hole in the rear crossmember (Just like the OEM units do.)

I have made an update the the holder moving the bulb socket about 3/16" farther away from the hole in the rear crossmember.

I'm printing a prototype and will test fit it when time allows.

Red is the OEM spec bulb holder
Green is the modified bulb Holder
