Does anyone have a source for the chrome trim pieces for the windshield, fastback rear window?
Thanks Matt, great info!If you want to add stainless windshield trim, they fit from ALL A body 2 door hardtop from 68-76. Those windshield trims are exactly the same. 2 door and 4 door post sedan, and duster/demon wont work.
I have used 4 door post sedan cowl trim, and A pillar trim , and cut off the tops off the longer A pillar trims to fit. However the 2 trims that go across the top of the windshield will have to be off a 68-76 2 door hardtop.
Your stainless rear fastback window trim would have to come from a 68-69 fastback.
Hope this helps
Matt
67s used a rubber gasket, with a chromed plastic lock strip, and small stainless steel corner pieces to join the lock strips in the corners. It was a 1 year deal and sucked. My 67 notchback has all the 68 up stainless to convert it.
Rear glass fastback stainless goes for $300-$500 depending on condition??I dont need it , but what is perfect 68 trim worth ?
I know where a non savable rust bucket 68 fastback is , it has been for sale for about 3ish yrs.
Have thot about stopping to see what he wants for it , but he bought it to resale , and more that likely an idiot to what its worth in its currant condition.
The fastback rear glass trim is more expensive that the coupe trim from what I have seen. I would like to revise my estimate...you might could get a really bad set of rear trim for $200 but it wouldn't be pretty!!Stainless reveal moldings for windshield can come from any 1968 up A-body hard top and that trim is reproduced too. The A-body rear windows are all different so none are reproduced. The 68/9 owners who need rear window trim have to compete with the 67 owners. Result is low availability and high prices. Good luck
Guess I missed that era. Or maybe region was a factor. At one time Builders were paying $600 for the rear trim. $1200 for the glass and $300 for the rubber. It was very hard for you to get the parts separate. No person would split the assembly up. Rear glass, rubber seal and stainless $2000 is what the package would sell for. 68-69 glass and all trim is very hard to find today.
I'm pretty sure Steele Rubber is now making the 67 windshield weatherstrip, maybe the rear windows too.OK Cool! Just got the car & still learning all the tricks. So it just used the weatherstripping?
