1967 Cuda with auto trans. Has the reverse light switch mounted on top of the steering column at the floor. The old plastic rod that sits in a hole on the shifter shaft is bent and cracked. This rod activates the switch so that the reverse lights come on. The lights will only work while the shift lever is in Park and no further adjustments will get them to come on in any other gear.

Does anyone know where I can buy two of these rods?

Thanks!

If you still have the original trans and really need that pin, I'll see what I can come up with.
If you have a later model trans with a 3 pin neutral safety switch, you can extend and route the 2 wires to that switch.

Yes, I still have the original trans. I am asking for two operating levers because my 68 GTX needs one too.

Also, the real name for this part is: backup lamp switch operating lever.

Thanks!

OK, I found the part number is 2883211. I also found that Brad's NOS parts has it for $45, but that's crazy money for such a flimsy plastic part that will probably just break again. Does anyone have one for less? Does anyone make these out of metal?

If I find a metal replacement for this, does anyone else want one?

Good news.
Jack's had them, and very reasonable too, and he's in Freehold.
Bad news.
a. It may or may not be the part you need. I'll try to attach a photo of what i bought from him. It matched that p/n but was longer than the one that had been in there.
b. Jack told me that he sold the name 'Jack's' to his brother or relative who was doing internet sales as a seperate operation. I'm not sure how to get a hold of 'Jack' who I bought from. Try one (8 hundred) 211 3010, that's the number I have in my roledex.
c. This was about 10 years ago, but he did have more. Tell him the p/n if you get him.

This part was made of plastic to be the weakest link.
Otherwise there would be threads about springs and things ( switch parts ) found in the floor.

I found one reasonably priced one on eBay for $20. I called Jack's (800-870-6402 is their current number). No gots. They recommended "Central Parts" in NJ (732-446-3738 ) because they have a lot of Mopar NOS parts, and they too no gots.

If anyone comes across one for around $20, please let me know.

And thanks FABO for the help!!!

I have a 67 and had the same problem. I took the steering column out and found the plastic piece was indeed broken off. I replaced it with a big hefty screw & nut I had lying around. It's now stronger than the original and works great!
