Looks good!! Now i know where they got the idea to put the stripe on mine from.
I know mine is a 68 didn't come on them but.
I was thinking about putting the stripe on the quarter to cover the chips from the track!

Original "survivor" paint as it came from the factory. I am going to drive it this way for awhile.

I will get a photo this evening of the stripe and decal placement and post.

This is great! I'm going to read the thread telling how this all started.
Nice Car! I'll be watching this come together for sure. I really like these Notch back Barracudas. :happy1:

Wow! That's bad ***!

I had found a clutch and pressure plate, purchased, and then the post office manage to lose them in shipping! I got the box, with no clutch or pressure plate in it. Probably will never be found. UPS from now on parts! Lesson learned.

I did manage to find another package deal on a clutch and pressure plate that will match what was original. I will be ordering that as soon as the motor is done.

The A833 will be checked out this week end. And I am willing to bet it won't need much, if anything.

I talked to the local owner of Exhaust Pros today. He is going to custom build me an exhaust system. He says it will flow much better then the original. The only thing I am going to keep is the stock exhaust manifolds and the exhaust tips.

It is looking better every day. To drive it by Christmas would be my best Christmas present in a long time! If only the weather will hold.

Curt,

I know that you have a specific direction that you are taking the car (from what I can tell kind of lightly modified), but ECS Automotive sell factory correct exhausts for A Bodies, as well as Accurate Exhaust supposedly has a quality system as well.

http://www.ecsautomotive.com/

http://www.accurateltd.com/67-73-A-Body-Complete-Systems-Small-Block_p_348.html

Either way, keep the pictures coming and keep up the good work. Seems like you are making rapid progress. I LOVE this car, and am glad that you have such a cool story. Looking forward to the article in the local paper when it happens.

Accurate Exhaust gets rid of the severe pinch on the driver's side head pipe but other then that they are factory correct looking. I ran the Accurate systems on my car when I had the stock 340 in it and it was nice. I NEVER had any luck with local exhaust shops and I tried a few. I know there are good ones out there but ask around and find others who have used the shop. TTI makes a very nice 2 1/2" H-pipe system that will bolt to your stock exhaust manifolds and its mandrel bent. You wanna go fast that one with some Ultra flow mufflers.

Here is a photo of how the 340 'Cuda decal looks on the fender. I don't plan on replacing it.

I did look at both web sites. The Accurate web site shows exhaust for B and E bodies. I might have missed something there.

The owner of the local Exhaust Pro has done several muscle car exhaust systems. If I was pursuing and exact restoration, I would do the aftermarket exhaust replica.

Keep the suggestions coming! I am open to any and all that will help make this project a reality, a street driven A56.

Curt, I agree that in this case, I'd seriously consider using one of the companies that sells systems made for your car, like the ones Tom Swope sells at Accurate. You do not want people welding hangers on and welding systems
together with mufflers that drone and drive you crazy. My opinion coming out here but I know what 340s do and how they drone and resonate with the wrong mufflers and hangers.
Please holler at me if you want some more behind the scenes testing info.
No matter what you do, keep sharing all the cool stories! :)

Here are a couple of more photos. One was taken in 1969 and the other 2013.

I still have the trophies and plan on taking a current photo with them when I get the car running. I have carried them with me through several moves to several different towns and even to a different state over the years.

Never ever thought about throwing them out! I am glad I did not!

In the old snapshot the 'cuda 340 decal appears to be a lot lower than it is now, so I guess it was replaced? Are the stripes original?

I would say the decal has been replaced. If you are looking to do a car referencing this one, use the placement position that is in the black and white photo.

The reason I say it has been replaced, I do know the black stripe was redone. I think the original was tape. The reason I know that, is a piece of it came off soon after I bought the car new. You can see that in the black and white photo.

When I traded it in to the dealer, the black stripe had not been repaired. I would say the dealer probably repaired it. The stripes have the normal rock chips in them now.

I have not paid that much attention to the striping. I will look at the passenger side and see if it matches.

I looked at the passenger side. The decal there is in the same location as the driver's side. Who ever replaced the decals did a good job. I am assuming the dealership did both at the same time, we will probably never know. When the car is repainted they will be replace again. I will have the 1969 photos for reference.

I am adding another photo showing the missing black tape spot on the driver's side.

Lots of parts showed up today. Only have to send one back so far, no clarification on the years part fit, acelerator cable mount bracket.

New ignition kit (Transistorized) has plug wires marked for an Olds. Double checked, right part #, as long as they fit.....

Got lined up with a local company to bead blast the underside of the hood and the engine bay for repaint. I am doing this so I don't have to pull the engine at a later date when the rest of the car is done.

The plates went on today! This is what a lot of Ford and GM products are going to see in the future!

Thanks, Daniel. i have been doing a lot of reading. I have looked at a lot of the companies you have listed an have ordered parts from some already.

It is coming down to odd's and ends that may be the hardest to find. I am lucky that Ialso have a good parts store here that has been able to come up with some of the stuff i need. They also have a good machinist in their back shop who is a car nut also.

Daniel is 1969cudaman. My name is Shane. Daniel is a good resource for info on your car as well since he was part of the history. He does not get on here much anymore.

Shane

Sorry about that,, Shane. i have met a lot of good people on this site. PM from several.

I appreciate all the help. With out it, this project would take a lot longer!

Here is a photo showing the engine bay. It is ready for primer and then the Y2 paint!

Curt, looks good, but PLEASE remove or tape off all non painted items. Blower motor, plate, wiper motor, master cylinder, steering shaft, ect, ect. That will look like crap if they just blow paint over everything.............best job would be to take all that stuff off the car.
