6pakattack Time

Well, can't keep you posted too well, some dumbass forgot to put the memory back in the camera !:banghead::banghead: Oh well, the motor is out and on its engine stand waiting to be further disassembled !!!One big step out of the way !! :blob::blob::blob:

Well, ran into a bit of a snafoo today while trial fitting pieces, may have to change directions !!:sad11:

Your dart is beautiful  are you rebuilding the /6 or going small block ?
I am not updated and or forgot if I already read it.
Lets figure this snafoo out together 6pakattack :!::!:

First,I had to grind on the Intake ears to get it to fit around the studs from the original intake. Then I put the front section of Header on no prob, then came the back three cylinder pipe !!PROBLEM !!No matter how I try finagling the pipes in there,#4 exhaust pipe hits #4 Intake runner !! There's easily 3/8" that it needs to come up,and it ain't happenin !!BIGGEST PROBLEM is now that I have altered them (grinding intake, header flanges added) I can't really expect them to be taken back !!Does that explain :mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum::mumum: any better ?? Back to the drawing board !!

On a positive note, motor is almost all the way apart and ready for the machine shop !!:cheers::cheers::cheers:

We are going through the exact same thing, trying to get a Clifford (short runner) intake to work with that beautiful header that Freddie built. He has hammered the header tube and ground completely through the intake runner, and guess what? It still doesn't fit...

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger...

Thanks for the explanation... misery loves company!

OK,I'll buy the first round !! I even went so far as to call Clifford in hopes they'd have my dream intake, the HYPERPAK.Who'd a thunk, they diidn't have any in stock, and it won't be 'till next year before the run another batch !!:banghead:He did try to get me into the standard 4bl intake, but that's not what I want !!:angry1: I was going to break down and buy one of their cams, but I'll keep looking !!:sad11:

My room-mate (Bill Taylor) has an original Hyper Pack manifold that he's had since about 1963... it's un-molested.

He's not using it, but he's aware of its collector value, and I'm not sure he would sell it. I'll ask him; it won't be cheap...

if that doesn't come through, maybe look at the Aussiespeed long runner - comes in 2 or 4 barrel. it doesn't take up quite as much room as the 'angry squid' hyperpack.

I am pretty sure that the long-runner Hurricane (Aussiespeed) manifold is what he already HAS, and is having fitment problems with his existing headers.

We also, have a long-runner Hurricane, but a well-respected turbo guru told US that we need a short runner intake manifold for our particular turbo application; that the long runner will not work well with high boost.

So, I bought an Offenhauser 4bbl manifold... won't work; hits the header pipes BIG TIME.

So, I bought a Clifford 4bbl manifold. It's a closer fit than the Offy, but still has interference between the manifold and header in two places that is a really difficult thing to deal with. We have banged on this once-beautiful header (ceramic coated,) seriously changing the shape of the pipe, and ground completely through the manifold runners in two places for clearance, and it still doesn't fit...

Here's a pic of the header before the mayhem...

Well I bit the bullet and ordered a new set of HOOKER Super Comp headers !! Ill cross my fingers that they'll work with the Aussie Intake !! If not, looks like I'll just go back to my tried and true Offy if Bills connection doesn't pan out !!!

OK,Block is naked except for the crank, and it's loaded into the truck ready to head to the machine shop !!I'll bring my Rods and Pistons so they can be balanced while the block is there !!:blob::blob::blob:

Look you can't tell us something is naked without pictures. LOL

:worthles:

LMFAO Reb !!! I'm headed out to drop the motor off,but I'll be sure to get some pics of her before we part company !!

You really think that with my CRS disease that I'll remember your name ??:violent1: No matter how many times you remind me !!
