So,,, have a mystery,,,,I am putting LED lamps in my 70 Swinger, I now have LED lamps in the rear [reverse, stop/tail] only, I tried that setup, did not work correctly. So got an electronic LED/Regular lamp 4 way flasher, and turn signal flasher to replace the original thermal flashers,,, works fine,,,,with standard 1157 lamps in front, and 1157 LED in rear.

Does not work with all LEDS in both front and rear. So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I got a different Electronic flasher,, one a with Ground wire,, tried it with LED lamps in front and rear,, does not work. Then I did a bench test on that flasher,,,, connected a single standard lamp,,, it worked fine,,,, connected a single LED lamp, it worked fine,, connected both LED and standard lamp to flasher,,, they both flash fine,,with just one or two lamps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, tried new flasher in flasher socket again,,, ran ground direct to battery,,,, no flash,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I did not change the turn signal electronic flasher to the pigtail electronic flasher during all this,, started with 4 way flasher first, to make sure it worked , before doing turn flasher,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,What step am I missing ????

I have read the strings here,,, on a 71 Scamp and others,,,, some say to reverse the wiring at flasher,, I am no engineer,, but since the rear LED lamps work fine now, but the fronts when LEDS installed, do not, if I do a wire or polarity swap at flasher, will that maybe make the the front lamps work normal, but then the rear lamps will then not work ? I now am thinking rather than cut and hack things,, I could just leave 1157 LEDs in the rear, and Incandescent 1157 lamps in the front,,, so as to have the brighter lights in the rear. I could try,, putting original 1157 lamps in rear,, and 1157 LED lamps in front,, and see what does and does not work then,,,, Or, perhaps there is another type of flasher that works,,,,,?

I had the same issue. I made short jumper wires to test the theory of reversing the wires to the flasher, and that worked for me. Once proven, I simply reversed the wires in the plastic plug, no cutting involved.
Note: My '64 does not have 4-ways, that may be a different issue.

IIRC, you must have the turn signal flasher with the ground wire in place of the old type of flasher also. If I am reading this right, you are still using the old-style T/S flasher? If so, try putting your 4-way flashers on, with the LED flasher only. All your hazard lights should flash. If that is the case, then swap the LED flasher into the turn signal harness & ground it. (Anywhere a good ground can be made under dash should be fine) Your T/Ss should work fine front & back now. You will probably need 2 LED flashers with the ground wires. 1 for the T/S & 1 for the 4-ways. I hope this helps you out.

I think I got the 4 ways figured out,,, using 4 LED 1157 lamps, 4 way flashes fine,,, but with 4 LED lamps, the turn signals do not work, do not light up, could try the Combo flasher with ground wire in the turn signal plug,,,if that does not allow turns signals to "turn",, I guess swapping the polarity on the signal flasher plug, may make it work,,,, is there a downside in doing what I am doing,,,,,?
Video about my tinkering, forgive my poor presentation,,,

First, let me say that's a VERY nice Dart Swinger. I am currently working on it's big brother, a 70 Road Runner. Same color, same wheels & hub caps. Second, I'm stumped too! Maybe leave the #2 flasher in place with the 4-ways & install #3 flasher in the T/S plug & try it.

That was my next move,,,, #2 flasher in flasher socket [since it works ] and try #3 pigtail flasher in the turn socket,,,,,

Thank you for Comment about our Swinger,,,, this winter it is being painted lime green, since that was the color of the Swinger we had when we got married in May of 1972. Also got some rally wheels, getting blasted now, then powder-coated,,,,,

I like the Orange, but I'm sure it will look good that shade of green too. I hope you get your LEDs straightened out.

I am not familiar with the various LED setups. Can you post a link to the exact flasher you are trying to use

I the flasher on the right, works fine in the 4-way flasher socket, with LEDs, regular, or a mix of lamps. But that flasher does not work in the turn signal socket, with all LED's, but does with a mix. The flasher on the left, with pigtail, does not work in 4-way flasher socket with all LEDs, no lumination. Have not tried it in turn signal socket

LED bulbs are polarized. On my Duster, I had to reverse the wires on the turn signals for them to work. I used an electronic flasher with a ground wire to resolve my turn signal & hazard issues.

When you say reverse wires,,,, was that at the flasher connector ? I see there is a pigtail flasher,,, that says it is blind to polarity,,,, aka,,, Bipolar in a good way,,,, but that may still try to put negative voltage to the lamp,,,,,so,,, rather cut and spice,,,,,,maybe this::

No, I actually cut and reversed the wires at the turn signal lamps up front. You can use jumper wires to test if that will work before cutting anything.

I do not understand that,, at the light assembly it self you have the turn signal wire ,, the parking light wire, and the socket,,,, the socket has to be grounded,,,,, so what wires are you reversing ????

The green and red and green and purple wires in your diagram
Well, then it is not a polarity thing, but the LED lamps are wired wrong ?? The green is 12v pos to park light,,, purple and red are 12v pos to each turn , the socket is grounded,,,I have to think your idea, is just a brighter park light,,, as it is connected to the brighter element in lamp, ,, which means a dimmer turn light,,,, The park light element is dimmer than the turn light element normally? The rear has no issue,,, LEDs flash fine,,,,I am thinking if I put LEDs in the front, and Regular lamps in the rear,,, the front LED's and rear lamps should flash fine,,,because I have just the opposite now,,,, LEDs in the rear , regular in the front,,,,,turns fine,,, just will not turn when I change front regulars to LEDs. [all 4 LEDs]

You are welcome to your opinion, but I researched this when I was having issues with my parking lights not working with LED's and what I shared was the solution. The lights are super bright and take MUCH less power to run that the OE bulbs. All the bulbs in my car are now LED except for the headlights.

Well first of all,, Thank You for your input,,,, I am sorry if I sounded like Perry Mason,,,, but I was Lost in Space,,,,,I am still confused how a turn signal problem, is cured by using the tail light circuit,,, but if it works,,,, I have no case,,,,,,so I must accept the verdict,,,,,Thank You again,,,,,,,,,, be well,,,, be safe,,,, and Merry Christmas !!!!
