Here's a pic of one of the very few restored '71 Swinger 340 Specials. Visually, the '71's didn't change a lot from '70 – just that these weren't supposed to exist.

And here's one of the very few restored '72 Swinger 340 Specials. Visually, the '72 did change a fair bit, scoops, badging etc. from '71 - and these definitely weren't supposed to exist.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I had found an EV2 '72 Swinger 340 Special buried in a slough, and was just too far gone to build back up. So, over 10 years later, buddy Kev, who had already built/restored his Y1 '72 Swinger 340 Special (see above pic) had discovered and purchased a B5 blue version but since these cars aren't cheap to build (as we all know, LOL), he said he'd be ok to part with this one. So, no later said than done, I dragged this one home - well, actually, back to Kevin's shop, where he began the process of the resto process for me. Let the fun begin, eh!!!

Mopar Muscle Magazine ran an article in June, 2001 on strange things Mopar had done thru the years. And in the 'scarcest' section, they ran this... interesting! Check out www.swinger340specials.ca for the full meal deal.

On the weekend of February 24th I put my freshly done '72 Swinger 340 Special in the Calgary World of Wheels, to great fanfare - and here's a few pics.

That’s a sharp looking car that ‘never really existed’!!!

:canada::thumbsup:

That is just an awesome display! Hope to see it soon, taking it to Moparfest this year?

Great display, Cliff...the maple leaves a nice subtle addition :)

Question: The 340 emblem behind the side marker.....original??

I wish. But no. I love this country but it's so, so big. Haha.
Joel says he's shooting for it - he has a '72 'Pembina' Dodge Y1 version.

Thanks Mr. Gorsky. You noticed them among the 'swinger splashes', eh?
And yeah, unorthodox placement for the 340 emblem and yes that was original. '70/'71's had them on the scoops and the '71 & '72 Demons had the 340 incorporated into the Demon decal/emblem behind the fender opening - so I guess this was the place they thought would work best for these few cars. Just yet another anomaly with these rare Canadians :)-

Awesome car, Cliff!
Too bad i couldn't make it there to see it in person...........
How about some interior pics?

Thanks man and I'm sure you'll be seeing it at some point over the next while. Here's a few interior pics...

Hot of the presses!!! I wrote this article for BoneStock Magazine on this J6 darn-near-survivor version of a Crosstown '71 Swinger 340 Special. Check out the real thing by getting a copy which would be a little easier in Canada, but in the US, some Barnes&Noble's and some Books-A-Million are carrying them. Then of course you can subscribe to this great little muscle car magazine at: www.canadianhotrods.com/bonestockmagazinesubscription.php
