71 Dart 410 stroker ..

-
Had to replace shifter cable as it appears to be worn out....10 yrs...lol...park and neutral safety switch all working....
got a Pan Evacuation system hooked up also...should help relieve pressure in the pan....

You are probably at the track again this weekend but wondering a couple questions as my new/2nd set of pistons have arrived we will get going on this thing soon,do you run a windage tray in the strokers,we did in the 360 but not sure about clearance with the stroker and did you change any jetting or carb settings from the 360 to the 410 at the start or just try it the same,my thinking is i was going to just swap the carb untouched to start.thanks and love the video keep it up

Yes at the track

No windage tray

Jets are the same in carb

In fact the jets are 2 number under stock here in Vegas....went we go to Bakersfield I go back to stock jetting....

had a marathon of a day yesterday.....from 9 am to 11 pm at the track....ran two bracket races to make up for missed dates while the track was under reconstruction
again they had glitches in the timing system that they had to stop the races and fix....

another cold and windy night......kids went a couple of rounds each.....

Dart ran a 10.44 @ 127+ ...and then last pass on she lost on a double break out with a 10.43 @ 128.28
btw we are racing again this morning...1st time run at 11 am

Looks like she is running pretty consistant and best of all still all together,we had our awards banquet last night, picked up my 3rd place finish but to our surprise my dad was voted crew chief of the year for our track, really nice deal.

well....the 410 survived the weekend....if and went we get it to 60 ft...or the track get some rubber on it...after the NHRA race in two weeks....I think this dart can go 10.30 here..

only think i need to do over the next couple of weeks is to figure out what coil over spring is on the front end of this...and fixed a couple of header bolts..

NIce what kinda da is it at this track compaired to the other track you run at

Problem with Vegas is the Barometric Pressure...this weekend 27.71 was the best on Sunday...Saturday it was a few tenths lower....the DA was around 3300 ft.,,,We have been going to Bakersfield aka Famoso Raceway and we general run .25 to .30 faster.

Ouch that is a pretty bad air day for us here,so how much faster or better do you feel the stroker is

well....we will see in the up coming year...the motor has very few passes on it...plus we need to work on it getting to 60 ft better ....I was looking for about 3 tenths faster then the old 360 which outran our expectations...plus as summer rolls in the DA out here will go over 5000 ft...

Yea I understand a work in progress what was the 360 running at that da,yea and that 3500da or so for us is heat of summer time stuff guess thats why we are still looking at snow, hopfully our block comes back from the shop this week and we can get started

best the 360 ran in Vegas 10.54 @125
best in Bakersfield 10.31 @ 128

Got some new coil over springs for the front of the car but they will not be on for this one race on Sunday......I am hoping that will all the racing that has been going on the past several weeks that the track has plenty of rubber on it....will have them on for Mopars at the strip...last weekend of the month...

seriously thinking about buying a new converter for the car....converter in the car now was made back in 1983....so I think converter technology has improved since then...LOL

And i have a ton of other things to work on.....Daughter has 63 Plymouth valiant 270 wagon that we been working on...new carpet...just got the seats back from upholster guy...got those in...she wants to drive it to MATS next weekend..I got to check the alignment of the front end as I swapped out the drums for KH small bolt pattern disk...along with new upper control arms and strut rod bushings.

been working on 360 magnum engine for 88 D250....got the short block together this week...oil pan and pump on today.....need a set of heads....

opened the trailer door to my 71 Demon for the 1st time since Nov 2017,,,,adjusted valves...clean carb...fire it up......need to swap out seat belts...expired...
plus need to round up parts for the swap meet for MATS....
Good thing I have a job that does not required a lot of physical work....brain power...
Going to retire at the end of this year.......so have more time to get things done.

Not much to report back to after this Sunday race...Car ran great no problem....ran several 10.53s @ 126+.....temp over 90 degrees...DA 5000...some much for good air.....head wind...cross wind...take a guess on which way the wind is blowing

Putting the new coil over springs Tomorrow.

MATS coming this week...Haul cars out on Thursday

Again...car is running good....10.55 and 10.56 at 126,xx......She lost in the second round with a .006 breakout.....

DA 5100......next race in September.....

Nothing like bracket racing during the daylight hours while it is 106 outside....Multi million dollar track and they are too cheap to race at night cause the cost of the light.....LoL

Took the Dart out cause driver wanted to qualify for the bracket finals...Duster is parked due to rear axle issue...Demon parked cause it is too fing hot...

1st pass.....10.62 at 124+.......ok...i was hoping for better...
2nd pass 10.59 at 125+.....better....checked the DA 5638.24 ft....well...what do you expect...

1st round...win 10.61 on a 10.59 dial as the other guy had a lousy light.....I had fatten up the idle circuit before the 1st pass....well...now it sound like a fat pig...leaned it out before next run..
2nd round lost 10.55 on a 10.59 dial...@ 126+ mph.....not too bad for the air we had....

And we get to do it again with but it is suppose to be only 104.....

I cannot get excited about this.... maybe by November

Another beautiful day for drag racing, even the track personnel working complaining about racing during the day...LOL.......104 degrees...DA 5600+ again...

1st time run...10.580 2nd run 10.575.....

1st round...10.57 dial...10.58 win
2nd round ...10.58 dial 10.581 loss....-.005 red light...

next race Sept 28....

Tonya was in 7th place in the points....

So track temp 150ish..... and if you think that’s fun sports fans, out here in the desert you return to the pit area where you are camped in a sea of blazing hot asphalt!!

Coming back to the thread on the 71 Dart with the 410 from the Saturday at the Races....Driver said the transmission is flaring up going from 2 to 3 gear...and looking at the tach...I could see the flare on the video....904 Trans has been in car for 2 1/2 years with no problems....dropped the pan this evening ....no big chunks....fluid needs to be changed....going to adjust bands and get through the weekend at the Bracket finals....But before we going to Bakersfield in Nov,...that trans is coming out....got a complete spare...

What a PIA with that CSR shield on the trans......the shield is resting right on the adjuster...so I removed both cooler lines...the shifter cable and lever...and loosed up the headers to get to the adjuster and the shield is in the way...last time I did this..I dropped the valve body and broke the jam nut loose and adjusted the band from the inside.....Nope....Got the cutter wheel on the grinder.....Kevlar is a pain to cut....but I adjusted that band from the outside...LOL...

Got it all back together...just get to fill it back up with that Walmart Type F fluid ...tomorrow...back in the trailer and off to the races
