73' B3 340 Duster pro touring build

-
That is one sexy rear end shot. I think the cut outs are spot on. You already know how I feel about the color on the hood latch. With the right accents the car would be a definite stand out. What am I saying, your car stands out in primer. Black would absolutely bring out the personality of the car also. Either way you go, she'll be out standing. :coffee2:

Hey Ross,

Just my .02 here.
What if you put the exhaust closer toward the middle of each side of the bumper, for example in the picture above moved more to the left and right four inches and a little farther up the bumper.

But then again the exhaust will be high either way here. Imagine standing behind the car to put something in the trunk with it running. the exhaust would hit you on the leg instead of the foot.

Again this is my two cents for what it is worth. I still love the build and enjoy seeing the progress more than my progress lately.

Timothy

Timothy,
I'll try moving them up to see how that looks, the reason there where there at left and right, is where my exhaust pipes will exit, there inline with the frame rails for a straight shot thru the rear sheetmetal I have to cut out.

Ross,

I heard you mention "Black is looking better and better", I love black and have never been partial to orange, but it seems as if you have a thing for orange. With that in mind how about gloss black w/gloss orange stripes and call-outs (like the color "Grabber Orange" that you have on hood latch support) ? ? ? Sounds pretty sexy to me, but I've been told on occasion that I'm an oddball . . . I beg to differ. . .

Ross, I like the Black idea, you rarely see black on fastback A-Bodies. Maybe do any striping or callouts in satin or flat (same thing?) Black. I think demon seed's (Mod) car is done that way but he has a more factory look.

Here's a little progress on the hood, I decided that the best way to modify the under structure was to cut it to the hood bulge and reinforce as needed, this is just the start but you see the direction it's going. I cut the scoop to enlarge to opening to 3" instead of the wimpy 1.5" that it came with...a little duct tape and you get a better idea of the final vision.

Here's the drawing of a paint scheme I save on my computer, I dig the red pinstripe on the hood, it would match my red Wilwood calipers. Gloss black, flat black hood and red surround stripe..

I dig it! Both my cars are going to be black....... this week!

I'm really leaning toward Black or a graphite pearl.....the only issue I have with Black is it hides so many details that a light color sets off. But after spending $90.00 in paints to test 3 colors, I'm not getting any closer to anything different. might be having a meeting Wednesday....looks like it will be short notice for you again.

Oh really, hmm when I first got the car, that was the color I wanted to paint the duster...hmmm have you ever seen that "Manic Mango" duster in the magainze? Thats the color I like

Oh yea,
I really like that color also, the shop that built it says it's a custom mix, but I think it's real close to Grabber Orange or Dozer (at least that's a mopar color).

Could do that paint scheme with the orange pin stripe. I really like the way the hood is coming out, its like US Body sources SRT hood. This is the Dart/Demon one, but they say the 73-76 is coming soon:

I called them a few months back asking if they could put that scoop on a 73- up hood and they said "NO" it would not work with that hood design and shape....maybe something has changed since then.

How is their quality? Pin or bolt on?

I have a pin on, and their quailty to me is fine for what I need. Im not a stickler like the older guys on here. Take it as you will. If it works for what I need it for...being a hood, it does the job and looks good.

I like that black with red pinstripe. I like the subtle stuff. Something like that might be great on my Demon - I'm considering satin black, and thinking of what subtle enhancements might set it off. Maybe also a little red somewhere in the grille, calipers, interior - nothing that jumps out at you. I saw one with gauges that had red background. Maybe a red billiard ball shift knob (or a black 8 ball).

I'm using SPI satin black epoxy primer and may use it on the whole thing - including exterior. Its the only primer I know of that includes UV protection for this purpose. Its not as UV resistant as a clear coat but enough for a car that wont spend long hours in southern sun.

Hey 76orangewagon,
Have you ever considered "Prowler Orange" I think that is the color name might look Cool, just trying to help.
