**73 Scamp Mini Pro-Street Engine Swap**

-
I hear ya, I couldn't resist! Id have my right foot smashed up against the radiator cap!

Yup those old foggies are trying to convert us, forget that junk..... Lol

Funny you said that about your right foot. I took my good buddy for a ride in the Scamp we pull out on a vacant road and I hit it letting it bounce of the Rev Limiter...... "Only way it would shift into the next gear without letting off a bit" I look over at him for a second and act like I am trying to shove my foot through the floor board pulling on the steering wheel real hard making a Psycho look on my face....... We both started busting up laughing our asses off. Good clean fun! :burnout:

Hahaha, I don't have the 70 running yet, but I took a friend for a test ride in the 68 valiant, and scared the crap out of him! that thing is a monster! lights up like a rocket1

Well while I am still waiting on parts I decided to find out what my squeaking noise was on the front end. Thought it was a wheel bearing but I found out the calipers are sticking........ So I pulled them off and replaced them. All the steel brake lines are rotting too and the Master Cylinder is leaking like a STUCK PIG so I will be replaced it today..... I will be making all new brake lines up front and putting on new hoses to the calipers.

I swear this car was a total F&^%$##@!! mess..... Seems I will be replacing just about everything on the whole damn car to make it road safe.....

Fuel System TOTAL Fire Hazzard and Brakes that were all screwed up. Blown up Trans, wipers not working, Wiring looked like a 5 year old did it etc etc etc...... Damn this **** is getting old and quick. This is what I get for buying a DONE TURN KEY CAR??

At this point I would have rather bought a Roller.... That is how much work I have done to this thing. I will be taking my aggression out on it as soon as I get it back on the Road......
:burnout:

Yup I don't buy "done" cars anymore...cause usually they aren't! ](*,)

I hear that. I have a high standard when it comes to Quality of Workmanship/Safety etc. If I was to Rate all the work done on this car before I took possession of it..... it would come in at a..... Drumroll

Negative 100

On another note. Just got a call from my new machinist. My intake manifold is milled done and ready for pickup so I will be installing it this weekend.

I hope I don't have to FIRE the guy before we get going on my new projects! In other words...... It better flipping fit.

Louis, I feel your pain. I bought a car sight unseen from pictures only. Got it home and the frame was bent in rt rear. I ended up flipping it though. I disclosed to new buyer that the frame was bent and the car took a severe hit in the rt rear. Atleast I know if I ever buy anything from you it will be perfect!

Ian

Intake fits perfect! I came up with how much to mill and told the machine shop what to cut it. .055 was the number. I was concerned that they would take more or less than what I told them...... They did it dead nuts .055 like instructed!

Pm Sent on that! Thanks!

The Converter is finally done and on its way to me. If my lil thrust washers get here for the transmission maybe I will be able to start buttoning it up!

Anytime you buy a car I realize there are things to do to it to make it yours... But this one is getting majorly ridiculous. I know the Rearend is going to break next so I am going to start sourcing a Ford 9" for it now so when it does break I'm ready. At that point it will get ladder bars or caltracs.

It truly is a clean good looking car but mechanical wise it had about every issue wrong with it you can think of without a doubt. :wack:

If you're going the 9 inch Ford route, consider going with the 12 bolt center for it from Strange. Lighter internals plus a 3% increase in efficiency due to the pinion being closer to the center of the ring gear - all that = more hp.

I have already done one of these for my 67 TT Project. I went with the Nodular Case and Billet Pinion Support on that one. Depends what I can find as to what I will do.

you dont think the back braced 8 3/4 will take the power your throwing at it? my dads demon weights 3400 and is running 10.50-70 with a 1.40 60ft. been running a 489 case with a spool street/strip for 5 yrs now.

are you gonna be running a trans brake?

Well I am just thinking worst scenario and that it will break cause everything else has....... If and only If it breaks will I go 9". Reason is they will take take anything you can throw at it for the future and they are cheaper to build than an 8 3/4.

The Valve Body I got is not a T Brake Model. It is a RMVB with Low Band Apply. The converter I got should stall between 3800-4000 on Foot Brake and maybe a lil more with my set up. Lenny @ Ultimate told me that with a T Brake it would stall 1000 RPM Higher for some reason? It is a 9.5" Billet this and that, Mechanical Sprag, anti ballooning plates, 3 Roller blah blah blah etc etc. Cost some $$, was not cheap at all. $1143.00 Delivered to my door.

Think it will be ready for crusin' Grand on Friday? I've finally figured out my oil leak and will be hopefully fixing it tonight. I should be able to make it Friday if a group is going.

Don't think so. I just checked tracking on my converter and it will not be here til Thursday afternoon..........Trans Thrust washers get here today so the Transmission should be all back together tonight "IF they sent me the right stuff this time..... 3rd times a charm??" Most likely next week. I will be driving the wheels off the car once it is back on the road, I guarantee it! :D
