904 Transmission Problem..HELP

So im swapping out my /6 for a 340 long block, and i want to use a 904 transmission but can i keep my /6 tranny?? or how can i convert it to run more better with 340 if possible?? :newb:

Nope the front case for a slant 6 wont bolt to anything else.

You're gonna have to round up a different 904 as the one from the slant six won't bolt up. You need one from a V-8.

I believe so, just get a good rebuild kit for her to handle the 340, plus they're not expensive to pick up, I just got a 2nd for my valiant for $30

Pre '68 have a different input shaft.

wow thats dirt cheap, but yeah im planning on beefing it up to handle the 340, also how can i make it a 4speed?

Most any of them will do it, but a 998 or 999 would be better. Either of those will have heavier duty parts than a standard 904.
