The pics don't do the car justice, too much paint cloud in the air. I will take better pics.
I am going over to the shop today, probably pull all the masking and take better pics.
Big Thanks to Higgs for all the help yesterday!

Alex, clearly you are a man with great taste in color. I am working on a 72 Demon and putting a gen 3 Hemi 6.1 in it. Once I get all the slashing and welding done she will be Sublime. My whole family is talking about the "foreign car" in my shop as it is Blue! I can only hope the paint turns out 1/2 as good as yours did. Beautiful job! I have painted a couple in my barn and as a general rule they look good from 25 ft but once up close not so much. I just do not have the patience for the prep work. I keep learning the same lesson over and over! Anyway I had to comment as your color selection is perfect. Can't wait to see the finish product! I accent mine with powder coat black and it really sets the green off. Nicely done Sir.

Thanks guys! Here is what she looked like this morning after removing the masking. Sorry I got carried away with the pics. I feel like a lil' kid again! Wait a week, start cutting and buffing. Still have to do the black, thats why the cowl is still in epoxy.

Car looks awesome Alex. No pressure, Mopars at thunder mountain is five weeks away. Have a beer, you earned it.

^ Thanks Dave! I am thrilled! June 15, 2015 when I bought the car. I estimated 3 years to get it all done, not sure I'll make it exactly...but I'll keep on plugging!

I talked with Tenn (guy in charge at All Kandy) where this clear The Wet Wet Plus is made....He said 24 to 48 hours and I can start the cutting of the clear with 1500. So...I started today drivers side quarter panel. This will be quite the job wet sanding the whole car in 1500...but I'll do as much as possible everyday.

Well...I got after it today. The whole car other than the passenger door is now wet sanded in 1500, I'll get the other door tomorrow.

Nothing like taking something shiny, and dulling it right up.
How does your arms feel, I hate color sanding.

Seeing the finish line, makes the pain go away.

^ I can definitely feel it today...that I put in hours and hours of hand sanding. I'll be taping off for the black today. 2000 grit & 3000 grit sandpaper ordered. Moving forward closer to putting glass back in! Ordering 1974 side panel/tail area stripe kit.

In my effort to get this DONE...The day when I was spraying my car Brock
bvt69dart stopped over with his 69' Valiant that had just been cut and buffed. His car and the paint looked amazing. I asked who had done the cut/buff for
him. He said he had done the sanding to 1500 and then a Denver shop: "Cars, Remember When" had done the final sanding steps, 2000 to 3000 and then the buffing and polishing. I called Scott over there and have an appointment to meet with them tomorrow morning at 9 am. I am taking the trunk lid to him so he can get an idea how my paint (the clear) will buff out. He said he is a Mopar guy and would love to help me with the final paint polishing work. So, I'll be doing all the cutting and Scott at Cars, Remember When... will be doing the pro polishing. I am thrilled.

I am doing the black before he gets it, He said he will have it 1 week. I'll find out all the particulars in the morning.
This has been an amazing and inspiring read, thanks so much for doing this it has answered so many questions that I had about doing this to my 71 Duster.
I know youve probably heard this over and over. this is the most complete and well documented build I’ve ever seen, I commend you sir for your attention to detail, You sir are OCD to the max, thank you so much for sharing this amazing detailed build with us. .

Alex, have you considered getting the car ceramic coated? It’s a little pricy but I think I’m gonna do it whenever I get my Duster painted.

Thanks again guys! OCD, LOL! My original intention was to do this build thread so my 90 year old Dad could follow along, that's why I tried to explain everything I was doing. He has watched and enjoyed the progress, I hope you guys have too!

Alex

It looks absolutely amazing Alex. Just looking at the pics of the roof, it looks like your bench thingy you bought worked out well! It won't be long now........just wash it and drive it! :)

Went down to the shop today to do the cowl in black. Pic shows just the base coat. Had to stop....Black being the "tell all" color....I found two small dents in the cowl. They are on the passenger side, have to fix them before going further.....or I'll see them forever, can't have that.
