A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
out of the box....TTi B/E body 2 1/8" headers,TTi 2 1/2" H pipe, and 2 1/4 "dennybuilt" tailpipes w/ stock appearing 2 1/4" stainless steel exhaust tips...mufflers ...something throaty....like flowmaster or knock-off

I like to keep the backpressure.....like a good fart!

isn't that the truth!

HemiMark...I like to keep it as technical and illustrative as possible

better come over and shoot the sh$t....or I'll be frickin' pissed!

THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU!!!!

Gorgeous build looking forward to seeing more posts
really wish I had kept the 5.7 out of my truck when it was stolen now...

Mark....the welder/fabricator..(fog327).....is the magician that takes my sketches, scratched on a cocktail napkin and tranforms them into what you see before you

I have got to get my car in his hands...

Looks amazing Denny! Really want to see this stripe idea your working.

I use a 2" drop MustangII (cost effective/can get anywhere/numerous brake "kits" available ) and extend the top to move the upper balljoint pivot point a little higher to keep the camber more constant thru the suspension travel....I'm always looking for a "bolt on" piece...I'm think I might have found one....I'll know next week

the stripes are simply a new adaptation of a old idea....I'm only as smart as the person whose ideas I borrow (steal)

just to udate....putting down the "rattle guard' thruout interior...then 1/2" lightweight insulation/thermoshield...... then carpet...pics by Bro john maybe tomarrow...he's been a sickdick (under the weather).

also been working on a K frame set-up for a '67 HemiCuda similiar to the HemiDemons'....Hemi/column shift auto....you get the picture

unfortunatly.... I have to announce after a little over 5 years ...I stated working again (I guess thats what you call it)...2 to 3 days a week, buying vehicles for a local car dealer at auctions ....my wife said she wanted to retire in a couple of years so I thought I better figure a way to get away from the house...at least 2 to 3 days a week....HHHHMMMMM???

That whole work thing sounds depressing I mean you were giving me hope that some of us could escape this working world.

Waiting on the new pics they haven't even started on my motor yet so your project has been keeping me motivated on mine.

Skypower...I thoght I read in your thread that your motor guy (replicarracer(??) if I remember right) had your motor and was getting started on it......whats the deal???...someone jackin' ya'?

Denny,
looking at the pics with your tires mounted, I have a question regarding tire clearance......how much clearance does the 315/60r15 give you all around and how much did you open up your quarter skin ? I only have about 1 1/2" to the front before I'm even with my tubb since I installed 32" tubbs I might be cutting it a little close trying to run 30" tires..also how much tire width clearance (or lack there of) can I get away...I'm definatley gonna go with a radial tire..thanks Ross

Ross.........I guess the biggest difference in our wheel tubs is yours are 32" and mine are 36"...looking at the build of my silver Duster, you will notice I left the rear of the wheelwell stock and did the enlargement (stretch) forward...on the inside I started where the stock tub attached in the trunk and went forward 36"...the on the outer skin, I streched the wheel opening 3" by removing a 3'' section appx !'' behind the door. there is a picture of that modification in this thread (page 5 post 98) .there are 3 main reasons for stretching it forward 3 "....1)fuel fill and trunk hinge remain intact..2)axle now 1 1/2" further forward allows the needed additional room for the coilovers and still use stock fuel tank...3)w/axle further ahead...GREAT weight transfer...mini-altered.

where I have my tires placed in the wheelwell...I have about 1 1/2" in front...3" in rear...1 1/2" to the framerail...1 1/8" to the inner lip

How much tire clearance is the minimium?....for me it as much about the look... as the "not rub" issue....I've seen some run so close they are rubbing

Not being jacked replicarracer43 is a good guy he is not the one working on the motor I asked him to take it to a machine shop near his place and they are just real busy with some big dollar race engines and are a little short handed at the moment. I'm just a little fish with a small job. I hope they can get to it soon though because I can't really do anything else till I get the motor and start fitting everything. Looks like yours is comming along very nice I hope I can get up that way sometime and check it out.

ever been to the Nats....if not..you need to come this year....you could meet all us bullsh@tters with one ticket.

heck ...you got a plane...fly there!!

HemiDenny, I am stunned. This is so cool. For mufflers, you need some of these. You can sneak up on folks and then wail on them with your other tricky gadgets.
I built a few sets and one set, like these, for my 69 340 Barracuda. I use stock tailpipes, chrome tips, the works.
I tossed in a shot or two of the polished ones I built.
Tom

Yep, go from dead stock loud to flowmaster loud with pull of a knob (so to speak). Vacuum actuator mounted on end cap pulls large valve open internally thereby bypassing 2/3 internal pass tubes.
Tom

very nice...what is the overall physical size?....what size inlet /outlet?

Would like to make it up there this year will have to see how things are going at the shops and the whole flying thing it's usually faster to fly commercial on anything more than 600 miles I need to step up to something faster. Hey maybe a Hemi in the plane might help except they don't call them elephants for nothing.

yeah...same here ...anything over 600 miles and my arms get tired......hope you can make it ...one way or another

should be lots of fun will be last minute thing but I am hoping to get there.\Hows the car comming along
