A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
Denny
that Duster is gorgeous! One day after the dart is finished i want to get a 70' Duster project goin...I could only hope its half as nice as yours :D

thats the beat part (for me) about these A-bodies...99% of this stuff is interchangeable.....my motor combo will bolt into almost any 67-76 A body I manage to drive or drag home.......you could always swap a 400/440 out of ....say a '74 Swinger into a..... say '70 Duster

maybe ill just be forced to build another big block...but the problem is i need to find a solid car with a rallye dash, those are my only prerequisites...i did make some progress on the dart this week however...

on the Silver Duster....had to finish up some other priorities...taxes,house plans(I'm not building this one..I have a contractor),and the final touches on the cad drawings/designs for my K frames (always thinkin..what if?)...everything for me is cake since I'm now "home"....hopefully I'll be back on the Duster shortly....I kinda enjoy a little pause....gives me time to do some "thinkin"

I'll try to get Bro John back to the shop w/ the camera to update the interior progress so far.....he was really "under the weather" and I didn't want his sick a$$ around

Denny, I built mine 17" long by 9.25" by 5.25" offset-center. Stockers are 18" long but I needed the extra room to clear the 4" diameter actuator on the front. I used 2.5" in and out, no physical room to go larger internally.
Tom.

Ok Denny I just got a call from machine shop they started on my engine had to go .045 over but all looks good ordering pistons in next couple of days, so don't let me get mine done before you. Hope brother John is feeling better.

what compression are you going with?...cast or aluminum heads?....intake?

obviosly.....the illness has even affected your A-body site surfing...good to see you back...is it safe to get near you w/o a haz-mat suit?

Denny - your Duster needs those GTO mufflers :D

They were an option on 1970 GTO's - VOE...Vacuum Operated Exhaust.

what compression are you going with?...cast or aluminum heads?....intake?

Pretty much old old school factory Hemi cast heads untouched 9.8 commpression will put some good rods and bolts Hydrolic cam still not sure which one yet and have not decided on intake carb setup yet will choose after I decide on cam.

and you think you're gonna beat me to the finish...you got to be jackin' me!

True you might get done first but don't take to much time i'm really jonesen to light those rear tires up.

have you figured out how to put that big Hemi in there yet?

I am going to use motor plate for now I am trying to figure out if I need mid plate or not not having the motor has been a big hold up dont want to order anything till I get the motor in there and figure out what has to go where. Got any suggestions?

by far..the least expensive will be a motor plate (elephant ears).....and placing the motor in the same location as the super stockers....no mid plate require...just have to work out the exhaust on the #1 port...gets a little tight next to the steering box....too bad you can't but a mini-version that directly bolts on

Figured exhaust would be the big issue I just want to get this car running so will make things as simple as possible once I get it going I may start on my 68 and try and build one that can keep up with the HemiDenny's of the world your car is just awsome. This car is just going to be for banging around town only thing special on it will be the motor and some big tires. It will live outside just like my old cars did when I was kid.

thats what I'm after too...a coffee getter....I'll leave the drag racing to the fast guys...like strokerdude....I'm too busy havin' fun...maybe those guys will let me get em' a hot cup of "brew".

mine will be in the garage though...I don't want some **** takin it....they can build their own!!
