I have a 65 Barracuda and was wondering if anyone has upgraded to exhaust manifolds that excepts 2 1/2" pipe.
Thanks for the info! I've had Dougs and Spitfire headers, and didn't care for either one. I guess it amounts to personal preference.

I've tried the Header route, and didn't care much for the fit. And would rather use the manifolds to try and keep somewhat of stock appearance. I'm using my stock 273 manifolds, on what is now a 408ci.. Just looking for better flow. And the reason you prefer manifolds to headers is what??? Maybe noise??? Or some other reason, and what might that be, please?
I have manifolds on my car, and 2" pipes to the back bumper, with Flowmasters just ahead of the axle. The car is a cruiser, not a racer. To my ears it's just about loud enough, but still pretty sweet sounding.
My project car will be louder, anyway, with a 360 and a "fairly warm" but streetable cam and a low rear end ratio Sure Grip for acceleration giggles. Probably won't even bother with putting a radio in it, and noise won't be a factor.
I didn't like how the spitfires outleted directly over the torsion bars. I have heard of others liking the spitfires. Just wasn't my preference.340 manifolds will fit with Schumacher motor mounts. My friend has them on his 64 Barracuda. The only problem is that 340 manifolds are pricey now. Any particular reason you didn't like the Spitfires?

They don't work. The dakota manifolds that is. I had a 318 in my 65 Cuda. Tried lifting the motor with shims, on one side and on both. Tried grinding on stuff....would NOT work. They hit on the steering box. I could have ground on the manifold to get them to fit, but it would have been ground all the way thru. sb

Magnum manifolds do fit - they're very tight and need some grinding and ideally changing out the steering coupler but they will go in.
Well I just got a set of durango manifolds, we'll see what happens. Can't be any worse than Doug's Headers. Had to shim and still had problems. All suggestions are welcome. They don't work. I ended up using a set of 75 Dodge Dart manifolds. Worked fine. I had manual steering. Those would REALLY suck on a 408, however.
Maybe grand cherokee manifolds would fit better?

If there's any way to get some photos, especially of the driver's side, I (and probably others as well) would like to see them. Thanks in advance if you're able to snap a few.
Going to try to install the late model Durango manifolds this weekend.
