Yea thats my point exactly. Would love the weight it would save but don't want to mess with taking it off. I have no doubt 1 guy could easily remove one but at what price? You are still dealing with an object that is pretty big and could damage other things or itself if your not carefull with it.

Kinda reminds me of something my grandpa used to say, something about a 50lbs of feathers still weights 50lbs. Not that has to do with anything but just something that comes to mind when I think about trying to move lift that hood off by myself and manuever it to a safe place to sit it.
 
Hum these hoods at 'race weight' really only weigh a few pounds and even a worn out old roady like me can lift one very easily, but it's 4 feet square and I can tell you from experince if it's windy , then you'd better hang on tight!
