A Body Owner Again!

That should be a sweet combo...and fun to drive!

I was going to do one once before in a 63 Dart I had. I lost interest, because I was not crazy about the body style. I like the 63-65 Valiants very much. I still have the 2.2 Chrysler non turbo pistons and a set of 198 rods I got from Tony Defeo, so the long rod 225 is going to happen. I have a camshaft from Hughes Engines on the way.

.
Fastenal would run about a dollar a pound.

That's not too terrible. I don't even know what one weighs. "ALL" I need would be the basic long block. Not even the oil pan or valve cover. Just as bare as you could get it.

Matt, that's kinda the plan. I am sure it will change a little as time goes on. Called a good friend today and as I thought, he has three Dusters. All slants. All three 3 speed manual trans. So the drivetrain plan is to build a 198 rodded 225 and use the A230, but keep the three on the tree configuration. It's just too cool to change anymore than that.
Are you planning to run a 1,2 or 4 bbl?

Weber staged 2 barrel. This way, I can cruise around on the small primary and have the back barrel to "have fun with". I suspect a slant will get some decent mileage like that, but who knows?

I laughed at your comment in the thread about slant six gas mileage and those who claim 25+ mpgs

I have some 225 slant six parts im a little closer to you. We could figure something out. I have a good complete head, intake, fan, pullys. Im sure there is more. Unfortunately I scraped the transmission when i scraped the block. If I knew what I knew now I would have saved the transmission. Just let me know if there is anything you need I love to help out if possible. Btw I just read the rodcat thread whatever happened to that project? You still have it or you sell it?

Still have that oregon grind camshaft you ordered for 63 Dart....you want to buy it back?

RobKat is moving slowly. I am not going to sell it like it is. I am going to get it a good driver first. It will probably be a very fun little car to drive, so I "may not" sell it.

I heard the original smaller CID short stroke slants were pretty rev happy engines because of the way they were designed. However because the bore centers were figured for those size engines, and chrysler needed to increase engine size, the cheapest way was to raise the deck height to make a long stroke 225. That kinda killed the rev happiness of the 170. Is that kinda the route your going with it? If with a short stroke smaller high revving slant, maybe a turbo is in order?
